Mission Statement

The Witness Problem

The circumstance that there is no modern day science of the paranormal is an accident of history rather than any fundamental contradiction between the two concepts. Western natural science developed in the context of a vastly influential religious power, that policed the ideas discussed by „natural philosophers“, threatening violence and persecution on heretics, who questioned the Christian version of the natural order. In the course of time, the Renaissance questioned the bounds of religious authority, and the Reformation broke up the monolithic power of the Catholic church. At the same time, methods and technologies of enquiry became more precise and elaborate, and the study of the natural world moved away from philosophical conjecture, and towards systematic observation and measurement. This shift took place on two levels. First, ideologically, turning away from ideas that lay in the domain of the - still powerful - religious authorities, which still held sway over that which was considered divine and miraculous or, conversely, heretical and evil. Second, methodologically, with the shift towards systematic experiment and repeated measurements, which, as a matter of course, turned the attention of the budding natural sciences towards those phenomena, which were of an accordingly objective and reproducible nature.

What does this historical context have to do with the absence of a science of the paranormal? One issue is certainly the long-running monopoly of organised religion on all things considered beyond the standard abilities of humans. This circumstance severely restricted the study and discussion, let alone the practice, of paranormal abilities for centuries, under the threat - and often implementation - of violence. The second issue lies in the development of the natural sciences, with the two shifts described above. Thus, focus gradually turned away from that, which was considered to be dangerously close to the religious domain. Simultaneously, the methods employed by the developing sciences were increasingly geared towards the objective and repeatable aspects of the world, and neglected that, which they did not consider to fulfil this criterion.

The problem with this second shift, from the perspective of the study of both mystic and paranormal phenomena, is that these are, by their very nature, neither classically objective nor repeatable at will. If we read the term para-normal, that is „beyond the normal“, from a statistical viewpoint of a normal distribution, we can understand it as referring to phenomena that are uncommon, that fall outside the range of phenomena to be expected. Thus - as the norm is dictated by those phenomena which usually occur - we can see how a science that is based on producing repeatable phenomena will not easily capture these anomalous occurrences or the circumstances that produce them. Furthermore, mystic and psychic phenomena are described in practically all accounts as being closely bound up with the individual producing them, with their emotional state and the deeply personal meaning they attribute to the matter at hand, as well as hard-to-quantify aspects such as altered states of consciousness. It is clear, that a science that has geared itself towards objective, repeatable and reliably measurable phenomena is not equipped to handle this subject matter, and indeed is designed to cancel them out, as they do not fulfil the criteria of what natural sciences seek to investigate, namely how things normally happen. This has gone so far as to lead some proponents of natural science to claim that mystic and psychic phenomena do not exist at all. Faced with this adversity in the established scientific community, on which basis, then, do we take these phenomena to exist?

This brings us to an issue we call the witness problem. This refers to the fundamentally incongruous nature of the claim by a significant part of the scientific community, that mystic and psychic phenomena do not exist, and are in fact superstition, delusion or fraud. This is not just a claim about a paucity of systematic, double-blind randomised control studies, but is far more wide-reaching; in effect this negation is the allegation, that reported experiences from cultures all over the world and throughout history, are fraudulent, delusional or - at best - misguided. To put it bluntly, the witness problem refers to the dubious assumption, that millions of people throughout history, who have made these experiences, have merely been madmen, fools or liars. This reeks of paternalism and cultural condescension.

This is not to say, that all phenomena ever described are in fact genuine, and that more advanced knowledge cannot explain things previously thought to be miraculous; this is quite clearly the case. However, examining different sources closely, whether they be ancient myths, different cultural traditions and practices, modern-day accounts or parapsychological research, it becomes clear that some of the phenomena described, as well as the way they are said to work, are remarkably similar. These systematic similarities extend across millennia and across continents, existing independently in contexts that cannot have been connected or in communication in any way: the phenomena described are consistent.

Thus, to maintain the blanket denial of mystic and psychic phenomena, the sceptical claim of delusion, ignorance or fraud would have to be extended to include a global conspiracy, that reaches back to the dawn of human history, sneaking the same patterns and narratives into accounts all over the world until this day. In the face of the absurdity of this claim, we maintain that there is ample anecdotal evidence - not to mention modern parapsychological research - to fully justify the study of paranormal phenomena, informed and enhanced, rather than blinkered, by the scientific method.

The aim of the New Wizards organisation is the foundation of a modern, comprehensive science of the so-called supernatural. Before we can go further into this matter, however, it is necessary to clarify our position in the context of the modern understanding of science and its hangers-on. We will differentiate three things: the scientific method, the scientific community and the views of individual scientists.

Our understanding of the scientific method is rooted firmly in empiricism, that is the idea that our experience forms the basis of everything we know about the world, and that it is through the systematic examination and testing of these experiences that we can expand our knowledge of the world and ourselves. This perspective understands experiment to be the essential test of all knowledge. In this sense of the term, we wholeheartedly subscribe to the scientific method, and understand ourselves to be scientists.

The scientific community consists not only of millions of individuals conducting scientific work, most of them with admirable dedication and to high standards, but also of a framework of economic, ideological and personal interests, as well as social structures at many different levels, from individual to global. In the framework of this community, discussions and negotiations do not just concern how best to conduct research to develop knowledge, but also economic interests, competition for funding, career building and social ladder-climbing, as well as the protection of reputations and interests. This context can be the substrate for any number of secondary and tertiary motivations that have nothing to do with conducting good science, and can be excruciatingly harmful to it. Thus, we are highly critical of many aspects of the scientific community itself, and do not seek to position ourselves within it, other than where it can provide constructive, open and earnest discussion.

The views of individual scientists, particularly where these are distinguished and well-known figures, often good at self-promotion, can command a good deal of influence. Where a person's reputation is founded on a body of good scientific work, and their opinions are well-developed and consistently argued, we do not consider this to be problematic, though it must be said, that this applies to the views of any researcher. However, we regard with the deepest scepticism the sway given to the opinions of any of the various „rock stars of science“, where fame can easily come to overweigh the merit of a given position. We see this form of celebrity as potentially highly problematic for the scientific field, and hold that respect for and evaluation of claims and opinions should always be founded on an empirical process of argument and experiment, and not on social status.

Having positioned the New Wizards in the context of the different things commonly understood to fall into the field of science, we can now outline the organisation's goal, namely to lay the foundation for a science of mystic and psychic phenomena. A key issue in doing this is the definition of an ontology which reflects the nature of anomalous phenomena. As has been argued above, modern natural science is geared towards the study of objective, repeatable phenomena, and is designed to exclude outliers, which distort the norm that is sought after. It makes no sense to draw upon perspectives and methods designed to sort out precisely those phenomena we are looking for. It is therefore necessary to establish a positive definition of psychic phenomena, and an ontology, epistemology and methodology, that can represent them, and allow their operationalisation and study.

Another key point, which is at best poorly accounted for in conventional scientific approaches, is that of subjectivity. An aspect of mystic and psychic phenomena, which is universally reported, is that they are deeply bound up with the individual experiencing or effecting them, with their personal history, the emotional significance of the issue or situation at hand, or with the training and skills of the practitioner. Again, a science geared towards objectivity cannot reflect aspects of a highly subjective nature. It is therefore necessary to establish methods that can represent and make available to study the varying degrees of subjectivity, inter-subjectivity and objectivity; the establishment of these properties would thereby permit the assessment of the meta-objectivity of phenomena, enabling us to describe objectively experiences and connections at different levels of inter-subjectivity.

The cornerstones of this proposed science are therefore as follows:

  • The formulation of an ontology that describes a meta-objective world, in which the individual's act of observation has an effect on the world observed.
  • A theory of how psychological processes can transfer into the physical universe, i.e. a theory of psychic phenomena.
  • A psychological theory of altered states of consciousness, i.e. a theory of mystic phenomena.

Next to the fact, that conventional modern scientific perspectives and methods are not designed to represent the properties that distinguish mystic and psychic phenomena, another issue that necessitates a very fundamental new approach to founding a science of the paranormal, is the inadequacy of existing paradigms of such phenomena in making them accessible to scientific inquiry.

In studying mystic and psychic phenomena, it is essential to look at accounts from cultures across the globe and throughout history. While an understanding of the cultural, religious and social, as well as the relevant historical context of an account is necessary to make sense of it, the New Wizards organisation holds that it is not necessary to practice or subscribe to these frameworks in order to observe or produce such phenomena. On the contrary, the representations, models and explanations given in religious, mythological, tribal and cultural contexts, both historical and modern, fulfil many purposes next to the understanding of the phenomena described: they communicate an identity, a worldview, a societal structure and provide a staging ground for many issues besides the anomalous phenomena they report.

While this is an interesting topic in and of itself, it is not the topic of interest to the New Wizards organisation, which aims to study mystic and psychic phenomena in and of themselves. Historical worldviews, while they may speak to aspects of lived human experience that are frequently underrepresented in contemporary perspectives, and may have a romantic appeal, by definition do not reflect the fullness of current human knowledge, thus limiting our ability to understand the phenomena in question, rather than advancing it. While it is through the relevant understanding of the significance of an account's embeddedness in culture, society and history, it is also by means of this understanding that it becomes possible to detach phenomena from this context, and to compare them across cultures and eras.

We, the authors of this text and managers of the New Wizards organisation, have been working, both theoretically and practically, on the challenge of establishing such a science of the paranormal for many decades. This endeavour has comprised cultural and historical research, analysis of physical and psychological theories relevant to the topic, and many fundamental considerations with regard to philosophy of science. This text has provided a very basic introduction to the proposed pathway to a science of the paranormal, as well as the challenges and questions that need to be addressed along the way.

Real Magic

We have argued that the aim of the New Wizards project and, as a consequence, organisation, is the establishment of a proto-science to prepare the way for the foundations of a completely integrated science, theoretical & practical, of the paranormal. We have also suggested that it is not possible to separate the researcher and their research from each other in the way experiment and theory are intertwined as in the natural sciences, and that this is even harder than in any psychological, sociological or ethnological sciences, which also cannot completely separate the object of their research from themselves as researchers (as they are always also part of their own topic and never entirely uninvolved observers) - as far as our topic is concerned, even psychological and physical reality are - in both directions! - interconnected. Thus we had to, on the basis of lived experience, formulate a Constitution for such an organisation, which has to consist of individuals that are both experimenter and experiment - wherefore such an organisation has to exhibit an unusual structure which sits at the intersection of an academy, a research institute and a (sort of) monastery. Therefore, in order to introduce our aims and methods, we follow up with a step-by-step exposition of the central guiding principles which our Constitution formulates for our proposed organisation:

„The New Wizards Project aims to create and realize a framework for publicly accessible, transparent research and consequently a training process for the development of psychic abilities and the personality development necessary therefore. This framework should be up-to-date and fitting for the third millennium, its evolving nomenclature, models and methods functional and set apart from esoteric, occult and religious ideologies.“

The frameworks of religious, occult or spiritual communities are usually secret societies, wholly or in part. The methods, ethics and worldviews of aforementioned communities and their traditions are usually on a pre-empirical ontological level, as their roots often stem from prehistoric to (at best) premodern times. While we contend that paranormal abilities can, to a certain extent, be trained, in our experience a big section of such training necessarily consists of forms of personal evolution for which we have better options today than the outdated and often brutal methods of ancient tribal or feudal societies.

In short, most ancient nomenclatures, models and methods that were invented to deal with the paranormal contain obsolete ideas about physical reality, human psychology, and (cultural) morals that were once derived from the slow trial-and-error learning processes of generational, traditional settings instead of intentional experiments utilising the principle of Occam’s razor.

The „modern revival“ of occultism in western civilisation that, after a few Centuries of buildup, manifested in the 20th Century as a broad spectrum of „neo-traditions“, is largely still suffering from those same problems, as ancient ideas and practises have often been recycled into completely different cultures (and cultural sensibilities), languages, frames of reference as far as the everyday experience of practitioners is concerned, and ignored the advances in the natural, psychological and sociologically inclined sciences that have happened in the meantime.

A notable exception to this is the neo-tradition of chaos magic, which has, in order to free itself from ancient superstitions and assorted early modern claptrap, attempted to transfer the practise and modelling of the intentional manifestation of paranormal phenomena into a postmodern framework. For our purposes, though, chaos magic has, ontologically, gone a bit too far on the relativism side of things as far as its relationship to scientific modelling, ethical principles and the topic of individuation is concerned.

We need a new framework. No secret society, but accessible to the small percentage of persons potentially talented for what we attempt to understand and train. Transparent research - including by external researchers - instead of simple belief in the views of religious cultural traditions, be they old or new. A training process for the paranormal that might experientially use the methods of old, but that, for reflection, has been combined with the models of natural science, humanistic ethics and psychology of the 21st Century. Last but not least, a nomenclature, models and methods that are not ideological but empirically functional in nature.

„A „Wizard“ is a person who has learned to use extraordinary abilities with wisdom. This ancient word was chosen in reference to persons who, throughout history, have tried to realize a similar ideal albeit in the boundaries of the knowledge of their time. „New“ was added to clarify that the organisation is not about the resurrection of any traditions or ideologies, but the integration of the extraordinary talents of humanity into the future. Therefore „New Wizards“ is the name chosen for the organisation working towards these aims in the framework of the regulations laid down here.“

As already remarked, we are attempting to train, research and practise the manifestation of paranormal abilities while simultanously expanding the boundaries of our understanding in comparison to traditional, conservative, tribal or feudal times and cultures in our respective practises and models. The entanglement of the information psychological and physical systems consist of, which paranormal phenomena imply, and our own practical experiences of the last decades, have shown to us the enormous importance of a resilient development of character and personality, which has been termed „mysticism“ in the past.

This mix of old and new shows itself in the name we have chosen for our project and organisation: „New Wizards“. That designation attempts to convey that we are realising something ancient in a new way. The old word „Wizard“ consist of two roots: „Wys“ or „wise“, „weise“, „wissaz“ or „wis“, „wyrd“, „weird“, „viss“, „wijs“, „witan“; terms which translate into „to know“, „to wit“ or „being of high complexity“ - and the ending of „-ard“ or „-art“, „-hard“ or „-hart“ which functions as a semantic amplifier for the term’s first root. The combination of those root terms thus points to a wise, strange being of high complexity amplified, formulating the aforementioned importance of the resilient character development needed for any safe and reliable manifestation of psychic capabilities.

Due to our methods necessarily being a hybrid of many ancient practises from cultures and historical epochs other than our own without us subscribing to all the circumstancial ideological baggage they unavoidably bring to our table, we might find ourselves accused of cultural appropriation by some. This clashes with our aim of not resurrecting any old traditions, but to create something new in a framework fitting to our current state of knowledge about the world and humanity instead - while still being dependent on established and often ancient „mystical“ and „magical“ practises which we of course cannot simply re-invent „from scratch“ and still need to utilise. Our premeditated objection is that we assert that mystic-psychic capabilities and their training have universally identical base structures and belong to all of humanity, not specific stakeholders, be they specific persons, traditions or cultures. Our stance might also be compared to the idea of a „philosophia perennis“, which assumes that (amongst others) metaphysical endeavours are not isolated, unique historical incidents, but point to a single unifying factor behind all human impulses and experiences of transcendence, beyond differing worldviews and cultures, via shared experiences of a greater, holistic aspect of humanity.

„As the central subject matter we are concerned with are psychic capabilities and their training - including the personality development or personal evolution and research into the topic needed to achieve that - it is necessary to formulate a positive definition of what constitutes psychic phenomena. We term phenomena or abilities as „psychic“ if perceptions, communications or actions associated with them exhibit at least aspects of nonlocality (i.e. perceptions which seem to utilise others than the usual five senses etc.) and constitute statistically significant anomalies in probability distributions.“

After our criticism of most contemporary and historical systems for the achievement of psychic and mystic capabilities we have to direct our attention to the other side of the historical split referred to in the „Witness Problem“: The „sceptics“ movement in the natural sciences.

Historically, there was a schism in the natural sciences between the rationalists and the empiricists. The rationalists assumed that the universe itself would turn out to be rational (or ordered according to simple and logical rules that would basically stay the same everywhere and everywhen) and that at least especially trained people (that is, scientists) would also be capable enough of such rationality that their own irrational impulses would not destroy that great achievement from the inside out. The empiricists, on the other hand, assumed that the complexity of the universe would turn out to be either infinite or at least so great that our understanding of it would always be dwarfed by its realities, and that some things might - perhaps forever - stay out of the grasp of human understanding.

Both are and were united in their conviction that contentious theoretical questions should be resolved by experiments; but while the rationalists saw explanations - aka an understanding of „how exactly something works“, aka Laws of Nature - and falsification as the guideline to interpret their experiments’ results, the empiricists interpreted their models more as tools for a functional way of dealing with reality than a description or even map of the same, and saw the degree of verification of a given model as the guideline to interpret their experiments’ results. Consequentially, rationalists see the Laws of Nature as features of reality that are discovered by experiments, while empiricists see laws of nature as our invention, as features of those models of reality which deliver the best predictions for the phenomena they describe - as of yet. For empiricists explanations are something that can ever be only model-internal, while for rationalists explanations are objective aspects of reality itself. This is a deep, foundational ontological disagreement.

Historically, as far as influence and achieving economic resources for their work go, the rationalists won. Mainstream science is dominated by their way of thinking, and the „sceptics“ movement is basically based on an extremist version of rationality. The problem with that is that the rationalist approach, due to its heavy reliance on „explanations“, works fine when applied to already very well-understood topics, but tends to turn science into some kind of museum if we are researching phenomena which are as of yet poorly, if even that, understood - for the same reason.

Contrary to sceptics and esoterically inclined thinkers alike, we think that it is possible to rationally understand psychic phenomena, the „magical“ and the „mystical“. But here the insistence of rationalists for explanations as part of understanding phenomena which we do, as of yet, barely understand, hinders any progress in investigating them. For the rationalistic, and even more for the „sceptics“ mindset, phenomena without an explanation inside already existing modelling do not exist at all.

Only from the perspective of the two historical splits which we have already discussed (the „magical worldview“ from natural science and later empiricism from rationalism) can we understand how such ignorance is possible in otherwise highly trained and intelligent people, how many scientists are not able to see their own circular reasoning in this. As a consequence, from the rationalist perspective the only possible definition of psychic and mystic phenomena is a negative definition, as something anomalous (to existing models of how reality works) and therefore unexplainable, and therefore (for them) ontologically non-existent.

„Extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof„ is a pet saying of sceptics, and what they mean by this is that they do not see experiments as being equal in the meaning of their results. We counter that the world and, in extension the experiment, is always right. Explanations are not relevant to gauge the degree of reality a model can describe, but only a given model’s quality of prediction of „what happens next“ in a given experiment or at least observation. Thus for our protoscience we need an empirical approach unbiased by the models of reality we already have, we have to assume that the universe might not be rational in the human sense of the word at all, but most importantly of all we need a positive definition of psychic capabilities.

Luckily, such a definition is not that difficult to formulate after all. Knowing that we are looking for an influence on standard distributions of causal events that is weird, strange, or mathematically put, anomalous to what we would usually expect, without us being able to explain them as of yet, one of our criteria for psychic phenomena will be that they constitute statistically significant anomalies in probability distributions. Considering the witness accounts from literally all known cultures on all five continents in all periods of history known to us, we can also say that we are looking for events where perceptions, communications or actions associated with them exhibit at least aspects of nonlocality in the quantum physics sense of the word. Using the empirical method, we can then investigate the structures and characteristics of all phenomena that exhibit one or both of these criteria without having to deliver an explanation for them beforehand - in other words, they constitute a solid positive definition of psychic phenomena.

In this context we want to mention (and massively recommend) Dean Radin’s book „Real Magic“ which has had an influence on the headline of this section. Dean Radin is an excellent scientist not shy of controversies who has done a lot of research of his own and also published diverse meta-studies about the paranormal where such an empirical approach has already yielded unambiguous results that would have been accepted in any other field of science as definitive - if there weren’t the rationalist approach of a scientific mainstream for whom „that which must not, can not be“. In the long term we hope to break that deadlock between rationalism and empiricism by producing so many repeatable examples of trainable psychic abilities for interested researchers that the question of their existence can be decided decisively once and for all, and we can move on from the „if“ to the „how“.

As we want to base our models on empirical science as much as possible - instead of the dogmatic belief systems usually present in esoteric or occult ideologies - we consider the following to be foundations of our ontology:

  • The laws of nature as known to the natural sciences as of yet; especially those of quantum physics, and here in particular possible solutions to the „Wigner’s Friend paradox“.
  • Psychological and sociological models, especially developmental meta-models that describe individual and cultural patterns of personal and social evolution,
for example those formulated by Wilber, Graves, Leary, Reich, Kohlberg, and others.
  • The concept of evolution, genetically as formulated by Darwin and others, and memetically as formulated by Dawkins, Blackmore etc.
As memetic psychology is the only contemporary model that can formulate the interrelations of genetic, cultural and personal evolution in one consistent system it is a very important foundation for our purposes.

Now that we have formulated our object of research with a positive definition and differentiated ourselves from outdated dogmatic belief systems, we need to formulate alternative perspectives that are capable of building bridges between mystic-psychic experiencing and our contemporary state of knowledge. As we want to understand phenomena which contain an at least partial overlapping of psychological states of the mind and physical states in the world, and the interrelations of genetic, cultural and personal evolution, the type of models most useful to us can be narrowed down conveniently.

Most importantly, we need a mechanism that can correctly (meaning, fitting with mystic-psychic experiencing) predict and describe how psychological contents might nonlocally transfer into physical processes, usually outside or beyond our usual senses and effectors. The only contemporary models that can deliver that are interpretations of quantum physics that assume that not only the „Schrödinger’s Cat“, but also the more far-reaching „Wigner’s Friend“ - paradoxon are not paradoxa at all, but physical realities in an „information as the fundamental universal substance“ universal block time Phase Space. Such paradigms imply the existence and can even describe the structures of macroscopic quantum phenomena that can indirectly be manipulated by self-aware observers until they produce the kind of nonlocal probability anomalies which we have declared as being typical indications for the occurrence of paranormal phenomena.

For the mystical grounding of our psychic endeavors we need models of developmental psychology that can describe transculturally valid individual and collective patterns of human behaviour, growth, and also pathology, without getting stuck too much with temporally and locally limited ideas of „normality“. As „normality“ often is not a formulation of healthy human behaviour but a wishlist of the local ruling classes and, in extension, the mediocrity-inspiring majority view, the amount of fitting models is - again - considerably narrowed down. Evolutionary psychological meta-models such as those underlying, for example, memetic, integral and transpersonal psychology, are uniquely fitted for the task.

„We propose that some practices usually labelled as „spiritual“ or „occult“ can produce these abilities, while the ideologies associated with them are not necessary for this purpose. It is our intention to establish a publicly accessible, serious method of research and training in this field that relates to esotericism, occultism and spirituality in the same way that an empirical science relates to a dogmatic religion: A Technology of Mind.“

Having understood that, for our purposes, we need a form of para-psychology that can formulate healthy mental states that operate beyond what is, in a given temporal and local context, considered to be „normality“, we need to have a look at what the transpersonal and integral psychologist Ken Wilber has termed the „Pre-Trans Fallacy“. Persons attempting - usually in the context of some sort of counterculture bubble - to realise a kind of lifeworld outside a given „normality“ cannot know, in the beginning, if the functionality of their concepts is „beyond“ or „beneath“ said assumed normality.

Ken Wilber defines as pre-normality any kind of lifeworld that cannot deliver key opportunities of a given normality without an at least equivalent tradeoff. Trans-normality would be a way of understanding or doing things that will deliver better results than the equivalent way considered to be the „normal“, or (sub-)culturally standard version. And of course really alternative versions of local „normalities“ are possible, as in successfully functional multicultural societies, which are about even in their respective functionalities, but differ considerably in how they achieve said functionality. Due to the historical split of the „magical worldview“ from natural science two main variants of „Pre-Trans Fallacy“ are of relevance for our endeavours.

The esoteric version is a naturalistic fallacy, in which phenomena or ideas which exhibit the characteristics of pre-normality are taken for trans-normality. A typical example would be to confuse the nondual mind- and world-states often described in asian mysticism (which take many years or even decades of hard and dedicated work to aquire) with an infantile oceanic mother-child „all-oneness“ regression (a mental state that, while a healthy and necessary step at a very early age of developmental psychology, is a symptom of mental illness in teenagers and adults).

The sceptics version is a materialistic fallacy, in which phenomena or ideas which exhibit the characteristics of trans-normality are taken for pre-normality. Typical examples would be to confuse expanded states of consciousness with symptoms of psychosis, or tribal raindance ceremonies held in an attempt to use psychokinesis in order to influence weather patterns with childlike wishful thinking.

As a consequence, empirical discourse often fails with esoterically inclined people and occultists’ traditions, as they are interested in their own (often hidden) „absolute truth“ stances into which they have invested all of their self-worth, and therefore usually experience any attempts at discourse or critical questions as personal attacks, irreverence, or - at best - „unenlightened ignorance“.

The same has to be said about the sceptics movement, who are invested into empirically unfounded „absolute truth“ stances built upon a hyper-reductionist, materialistic 19th Century version of physics, which are also intimately connected to their self-images, and, as a consequence, demand rationalistic explanations for empirically evident phenomena before said phenomena are even remotely understood instead of researching them until enough context arises for functionally modelling them.

We do not agree with a lot of the usual esoteric, spiritual, religious and occult stances and belief systems, as the persons propagating them are usually not interested in understanding the phenomena they are experiencing due to being secondarily motivated. Western esotericism has a particular tendency to the creation of escapist realities - away from realities that are difficult to endure into a „feel-good world“ where everything is one and healed and nice and fluffy. More generally put, this mindset either manifests as bedrock fundamentalist absolute truth or its seemingly utter opposite, total relativism, which is then used to hide the uncomfortable facts and restore the feel-good world, and is at its core the same bedrock fundamentalist absolute truthism packed in fluffy linings.

Contrary to all that we want to establish an academic-level, empirical quality standard for the practise of and discourse about our topics of inquiry, and go beyond a sceptics perspective stuck in a 19th Century materialistic physics ontology, tribal religion, esoteric regression, spiritual fantasies or medieval-feudal style occultist lodges, in order to establish a technology of the human mind.

Our working hypothesis is based on an ontology that formulates an empirical world model in which the phenomena of consciousness and physical existence are interdependent and influence each other directly:

  • We model mysticism - personal evolution - with a Theory of Mind which unifies different psychological models and expands them to include the phenomena of expanded consciousness.
  • Psychic phenomena are interpreted as a consequence of a Wigner's Friend many-worlds interpretation of quantum physics;
  • We propose a mechanism for these phenomena based on the assumption that organisms can perceive and shift their position in universal phase space. This predicted capability is assumed to manifest itself in an ability to perceive and shift probability distributions (from the point of view of the psychic practitioner).

The historical split between mind and matter, consciousness and physical reality taken for granted today in the natural sciences presents us with a massive problem in modelling. We are saddled with a contemporary psychology entirely divorced from physical reality, and a mainstream version of physics that declares consciousness as some kind of complicated illusion produced by the wetware of an overgrown mammalian brain. To add insult to injury, and as already amply discussed, the older worldviews that attempted to unite what is today termed as psychology and physics into a more holistic, nondual picture of the world and self, have fallen flat for our purposes as their creators did not have the massive deluge of empirical data about the universe we take for granted at our fingertips nowadays.

Over the decades, however, we have produced the beginnings of a solution to that problem: All our methods and models are hybrids. For humanity has often attempted to understand inter-subjective phenomena independently from each other - letting all those perspectives overlap as a hybrid shows us an integral wholeness not achieveable otherwise, as it unites all the data of all those disparate attempts at understanding into one. We have applied this approach - with great success - to both multicultural hybrid techniques intended for the production of mystic and psychic phenomena and a Theory of Mind which unifies different psychological models and expands them to include the phenomena of expanded consciousness. At this stage of deliberations, one hybrid is still missing: An up-to-date formulation of a union of psychology and physics.

When taking up the topic of physics, we have, in quantum physics, the understanding that the universe as a whole is not deterministic, that observers (in other words, consciousness) exhibit some kind of nonlocal interaction with physical processes, and that physical reality seems to have nondual attributes such as those observed in the already mentioned world- and mindstates described in asian mysticism. These ontological insights, which are stubbornly ignored by the sceptics movement, are now more than a Century old. At the time of writing, there are many interpretations of quantum physics extant which as of yet cannot be differentiated by decisive experiment into a final, definitive version.

What is interesting for our purposes is that there is one interpretation of quantum mechanics that would fit the psychological-physical mirror processes we would need in order to predict and understand the structures of mystic-psychic experiencing inside a framework of the natural sciences, which, as already mentioned, assumes that not only the „Schrödinger’s Cat“, but also the more far-reaching „Wigner’s Friend“ - paradoxon are not paradoxa at all, but physical realities in an „information as the fundamental universal substance“ universal block time Phase Space, in which mind and matter both consist of the same substance - namely information. Detailed description of this quantum physical paradigm that can provide what we need to deliver a holistic meta-hybrid of our three hybrid strategies (psychological, physical, nonlocal nonduality) must be deferred to later chapters due to its necessary size.

„A New Wizards Encyclopedia shall be maintained and regularly updated as a compendium of all aims and contents of the New Wizards. It should comprise the current version of the Constitution, methods and models up to the time of the current revision and plans for their future development, and all existing procedures of organisation and practise.“

To verify and evolve our grand hybrid-hypothesis which has been developed over multiple decades of work, we need an organisation consisting of a great many practical researchers to continue experimenting with it and to put it to the test - namely, the New Wizards - which, as the processes involved to move from proto-scientific hypothesis to a fully fledged practical and theoretical science will have to take decades, if not Centuries to unfold - it has to be transmitted and conserved as a consistent archive that summarises all our aims and contents, methods and models, existing procedures of organisation and practise, and plans for their future development in a structure fitting to preserve the current iterations’ quality standards and lege artis practises into the future - a representation of the whole projects’ DNA, so to speak.

Intending our unique perspectives, methods & models to have a chance at survival into the far future, which includes the possibility if not certainty of them having to withstand the combined forces of history, changing cultures, regimes, human fallibility and nature itself, we have decided that the best shot at achieving said aim is to produce a unified, compressed form of that whole information into a book, an Encyclopedia of the New Wizards, as a message in a bottle to said futures; as you are reading this, you are probably holding the result in your hands right now.

„The training course sections of the New Wizards Encyclopedia shall take a consistent, modular and standardised form. This convention should present a practical template for the operationalisation of the experiences arising from the application of New Wizards methods and the theoretical constructs or models derived from them by deduction. Thereby their functionality and efficiency becomes verifiable by means of empirical experiment.“

To test our set of hundreds of interlocked hypotheses, not all of which will obviously turn out to be entirely correct given the highly complex nature of the tasks we have set ourselves, most members of our organisation will be occupied with the experiment of conducting very long-term forms of experimental training in our hybrid methods and models, and the assessment of the results thereof. Most of us are, simultanously, researchers and our own experiment. In keeping with our empirical perspective on the topics we are working on, to analyse and understand our results, we have to look at the many and diversified experiences which arise from the training and practise of the extraordinary abilities we are researching, and, as we cannot be sure about their ultimate ontological nature, have to construct our functional models about them as we go along, via induction.

To streamline such a complicated network of processes in order to establish practical and theoretical quality standards onto which a future science might some day be based, we need to establish functional templates for the operationalisation of our methods and models that take a consistent, modular and standardised form. It has to be possible to arrive, both from our models to the outlines of our methods, and from our methods to passable predictions about the nature of the experiences which are to be expected from utilising them via deductive reasoning, in order to make their functionality and efficiency verifiable by means of empirical experiment.

„If any regulation in the Constitution is not reasonably applicable in a specific case, an alternative solution as close as possible to the original regulation should be found. Whether or not a regulation is reasonably applicable and in case of ambiguity regarding the interpretation of a regulation the decision on further proceedings is made by the Council, whose majority decision on the subject is final.“

The regulations, which govern the organisation of the New Wizards, which has to be built, operated, and sometimes even have to be rebuilt in the aftermath of difficult historical events, in order to realise all the above-mentioned aims and projects, have to be as pragmatically flexible as our methods and models in order to function in a broad array of personal, cultural and economic circumstances.

They therefore should be seen more like guidelines than as ironclad laws intended to be followed no matter what happens. Due to this, it is important for all members to arrive at an autonomous understanding of the purpose of any regulation relevant to them and then not to follow it to the letter, but to make the most of it in the context of its „spirit“ or meaning. The Council referenced has to consist of the organisations’ members with the highest professional competence available for the task.

„The New Wizards organisation has three Tiers of Membership, with differing purposes and - in ascending order - increasing levels of immersion and commitment with regard to the aims of the organisation. The Tiers are New Wizards Membership (Specialist Advisor or Trainee), Tutorship (Skill Trainer, Process Facilitator or Process Classifier) and Leadership (Councilor or Chairperson). Conditions for entry, rights, duties, and circumstances that could lead to losing membership of the Tier in question are also cumulative in ascending order.“

In order to achieve the quality standards needed - as far as human resources are concerned - for the running of an organisation with the abovementioned capabilities, we have to establish a know-how hierarchy to make sure that all members in positions of whatsoever authority over any other members exhibit the sort of integrity, pragmatic and ethical qualifications that are needed for their respective positions. For obvious reasons, the biggest steps on that ladder consist of simple membership, followed by the right to teach others in the methods and models learned, and up into the leadership of the organisation itself.

Each of these tiers have to consist of necessary intermediate steps, which must be completed one after the other in order to have achieved the competence to understand them from ones’ own experience before being allowed to lead others in their accomplishments. What has to be fulfilled to reach a given step in this know-how hierarchy, what rights and duties membership on that rung of the organisational ladder includes, what the red lines are which can lead to losing such a position again, and who can and has to make a decision about that under which circumstances, has to be formulated in the regulations of the organisation, termed the New Wizards Constitution.

„Any kind of authority in the New Wizards organisation is a know-how authority only, and should never be thought of as an estimation of the worth of a person or as a social ladder to climb. Any New Wizards Member holding any sort of authority in the framework of the organisation must be able to back up their specific position of authority by providing a comprehensible explanation as to what the reasons, purposes and arguments for that hierarchy are, without appeal to said authority.“

As might have become obvious by now, we do not wish to form a spiritual, occult, esoteric or religious cult, or networks of such. Our role models are the monasteries or academies of the ancient world, in whose workings neither dogmatic scriptures nor personality cults were the intended outcome, but a rather practical understanding of the powers and potentialities of humankinds’ deep mind in interaction with the universe.

Therefore any position any member holds in our organisation has to be backed up by necessity or practicality, and any such member has to be able to autonomously present the experiences, facts and arguments that have led to them first obtaining and then holding that position. A higher position of authority in the New Wizards organisation does not contain the implication of being somehow more worthy, enlightened, a holy guru, or otherwise unquestionable in a self-immunising way; it must, in the interest of all that has been said above, never be abused for political or social personal gain in order to earn and keep the trust that has been and will be invested into persons in position of authority within our organisation.

What to expect from the New Wizards

First of all, whether the reader is a sceptic, scientist, theoretically interested (in the anomalous and paranormal) person or mystic-psychic practitioner of some sort, the New Wizards will probably not be what you came to expect from an organisation involved with this kind of topic. To help understand what to expect, we will highlight a few perspectives - what the New Wizards are and what they are not. As already laid out above, the New Wizards are neither an esoteric nor a scientific organisation in the conventional sense of the word, we actually wish to differentiate ourselves from both Scientism (belief in what mainstream scientists claim instead of using the method of science - empirical experiments) and Esotericism (belief in what fashionable gurus, holy books or traditions claim instead of directly acquiring some spiritual experience of one’s own).

We have achieved methods and models that allow any sufficiently prepared practitioner to reproduce all sorts of mystic-psychic experiences. We - using the original scientific method from before the belief system called rationalism, namely empiricism - treat the results as experimental realities that we wish to study, understand and utilise. To achieve this, we take every witness' experiences of the paranormal seriously, and consider as irrelevant their status, contradictions with mainstream societies’ consensus trance or the spiritual, occult or religious tradition they might come from - but, we do not necessarily share their interpretations of such experiences or experimental realities - or if things are as they seem.

While we acknowledge the existence of the phenomena of, for example, Channeling or „Spirit contacts“, we do not necessarily buy into untestable claims stemming from Channeling contents („the truth about Atlantis“) or the ensured literal objective existence of ghosts, etc. As a result, we do not belong to or even specifically endorse any occult, spiritual or religious tradition over another, but will on occasion distance ourselves from specific traditions, their contents, worldviews or interpretations: On the one hand, the New Wizards method is an ultimate hybrid of many of them; on the other hand, do not assume that ideas from any kind of esotericism (religion, occultism, spiritualism) are automatically shared by us - because quite often, they won’t be.

All that leads to a probably surprising revelation about our practise: We actually do not know which of our instructions will or even can work. There are verified experiences of course; but there are also methods so advanced, rare, dangerous or only suited to a very specific sort of personality that no New Wizards member has been able to even attempt to replicate them - as of yet. But: In that sense, neither does, in the world of the occult, spiritual or religious traditions, anyone else, if they would be entirely honest with themselves or their adherents - there is no on/off switch of total reliability in Reality Crafting (which is our umbrella term for mystical or magic(k)al perceptions, communications or actions), and anyone who claims to have achieved total, safe and deterministic control over the psychological, social and physical forces involved is deceiving themselves and those they are influencing. The New Wizards organisation endeavors to stand for merciless honesty in this and other avenues of thought.

The processes of mystic-psychic phenomena, initiation (transformation of the mind) and manifestation (mind over matter) are seen as strictly empirical evolutionary processes - but, some of the topics involved can only be understood by direct personal experience of them, and will stay forever incomprehensible to the pure theoretician of whatever philosophical school. It follows that we straddle the line between science and mysticism, which leads to some fundamental dissenses not only with Esotericism, but with mainstream science and society as well. One of those might be our ontological stance that empirically, there is no absolute line to be drawn between an objectively in- & outside of world and mind, and no absolutely objective models exist except as boundary conditions. In case of disagreement, try the closest thing to total objectivity, the natural sciences - and then have a look, for example, at the quantum-mechanical Wigner’s Friend paradoxon, the „Hard Problem“, Gödel's incompleteness theorems, etc. Objectivity always exists as an, albeit very useful, special case - but has its limits.

We further claim ontologically that human models (be they scientific, as objective as it gets, subjective and personal, experiential or reflective) always describe an interactionality between an organism and its environment, and this cannot be disentangled in any way. Models are never truths about the world, they are evolutionary fitness functions whose value can only be determined by their predictive value (see also cognitive scientist Donald Hoffman and his „Evolutionary Argument Against Reality“ or Maturana and Varela and their „Tree of Knowledge“). As a result we claim that psychological and physical States are, ultimately, ontologically indistinguishable, and the attempt to entirely separate them from each other has led to the „Hard Problem“ which we have already mentioned. It also follows that we have another perspective on, for example, the „Spirit“ and all psychophysical „mixture“ phenomena than mainstream science and society.

Another dissent might be our stance that culture is not sacrosanct. We can detect pathologies in cultures by defining pathologies as neurological hardware-software conflicts which are never those of the individual alone, but of their cultures as a whole. Most cultural pathologies seem to stem from the historical evolutionary conflict resulting from the step from hunter-gatherer culture to agri-culture; from nomadic to settled, from sexual promiscuity to inheritance-driven puritan sexphobic patriarchy, from self-sufficiency to property feudalism and later, capitalism, etc. It follows that we are critical of the whole idea of „cultural appropriation“, as this seems to be the political left version of Apartheid - our strictly non-sectarian and non-racist stance is that cultures should be able and willing to learn from and also criticise each other, and ultimately share their resources instead of locking them behind „cultural property“ paywalls. In that example we can see something of the ancient culture-clash addressed.

We also have a different (from mainstream society, that is) stance on sexuality, stemming from deep tantric experience on the one side and an in-depth analysis of the above conflict on the other side. We think that consensual sexual relationships between consent-capable sexpartners should always and without exception be seen as a healthy self-expression of personal evolution and thus should never be pathologised, slutshamed, suppressed or repressed for whatever rationalised reasons, but generally encouraged as a productive venue of tantric self-exploration of one-self and one’s social relationships as such.

Summing up, we walk the straddled line between science and mysticism on the common denominator of applied empiricism. Our foundational modelling assumptions are therefore mainly based on psychological (especially memetic, integral psychology, and the functionalities of neural networks), quantum-physical (especially a possible solution to the Wigner's Friend paradox, and - as a consequence - the „Hard Problem“), and evolutionary (hardware and software, i.e. „darwinian“ and memetic psychosomatic and cultural evolution) models; and, as a consequence and using Occam's Razor, we do not need any further occult preconceptions for our theoretical modelling.

Methods & Models of the New Wizards Academy

The Horizontal Model

We have arrived at the necessity for an abridged exposition of the New Wizards’ current practical core methods and main modelling hypotheses. A very short overview follows here.

Inductive reasoning about the empirical structures of paranormal phenomena have brought us to the conclusion that we are dealing with processes which are always happening as an informational interaction or exchange between psychological or „inner“ and physical or „outer“ realities. We hypothesise that their common substrate is information. If one or more such processes are intentionally brought into conscious awareness and manipulated in order to produce changes in „inner“ or „outer“ states, we have named that procedure „Reality Crafting“, which is the aim of all endeavours of the New Wizards organisation.

We have termed our map of this whole process of Reality Crafting the „Universal Model of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes“, nicknamed „the Matrix“ (as it depicts a structural model of how information produces inner and outer realities), its graphical metaphor can be a rotational toroid, Moebius Loop or any other self-referential structure that „creates itself“. The subprocesses of Reality Crafting, which tend to set each other off like dominoes, have been observed to exhibit two directions of flow; one from the „inner“ to the „outer“ structural elements, functioning like a manifestation or emergent process; and another one from the „outer“ to the „inner“ branches, for which we have chosen the time-honoured term of „initiation“, and which functions similar to an electromagnetic induction. As an example we might illustrate the relationship between meditations and rituals. The inspiration produced by a meditation might be manifested in order to emerge with the help of a ritual into the outside world; or the results of a ritual might initiate deeper contemplation of its implications via focussed meditation, similar to how a magnetic field might induct an electric current into a nearby metal wire.

In the same way Inuit have been said to employ about thirty words for the kind of phenomena for which the average European might possess only one or two words - snow and ice - paranormal practitioners usually observe that to divide phenomena into a „subjective“ and „objective“ category and to leave it at that does not cut even close to what they are observing, and that there seem to appear more than one or two versions of „inner“ and „outer“ direction(s). Over the course of decades of paradigmatic model building for the paranormal, we have identified „four-and-a-half“ different principles or „inner-outer“ flow axes, which have, as sum total of all of their combinations, led to the formulation of the „Universal Model of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes“.

The first of these „inner-outer“ flow axes are the „Self-Modi“, manifesting (or, the other way around, initiating) their states from transpersonal perception via personal communication into prepersonal action. These three Self-Modi have been repeatedly described from various perspectives in different, primarily developmental, psychological models. They do not exclusively describe psychological processes, but systemic modes of interaction and interrelationship with aspects of the world, including diverse drives and motivations. The following table shows a juxtaposition of some models with the Self-Modi to convey a foundational understanding of their repective functionalities and interactions:

Self Prepersonal
(3rd Person)
Personal
(2nd Person)
Transpersonal
(1st Person)

Foundational Relationship I-It I-Thou I-Self
Socratic Triad Pragmatics - Truth Ethics - Goodness Aesthetics - Beauty

Humanistic Psychology (Carl Rogers) Unconditional Positive Regard Empathic Understanding Congruence
Jungian Psychology (C.G. Jung) Psychosomatic Organism Persona Individuation, Shadow & Archetype of Self
Ego, Animus & Anima
Psychoanalysis (Sigmund Freud) Id Super-Ego Ego (as in „the Voice of Reason“ - which is quiet)
Modi of Cognition (Johann Pestalozzi) Hand Heart Head

The second of the „inner-outer“ flow axes is the „Intersubjectivity Scale“, manifesting (or, the other way around, initiating) from the more mystical and subjective states of Authentic Intentionality into Expanded Consciousness, then further via the more psychic and objective states of the (animistic) Astral into Nonlocal phenomena. We describe the concept of intersubjectivity as graded via measurement of which percentage of observers experience an apparently paranormal phenomenon, and have differentiated two distinct steps inbetween subjective („Authentic Intentionality“) and objective („Nonlocal phenomena“): „Expanded Consciousness“ as „slightly more objective than subjective“ and „Astral - or animistic - phenomena“ as „slightly more subjective than objective“.

Making explicit these two often ontologically marginalised or erased intermediate steps has provided us with an account of the world that goes beyond the dualistic separation of a subjective „inner“ reality and an objective „outer“ reality. The Intersubjectivity Scale represents a „bridge“ that describes how subjective states can be shifted into intersubjective states and vice versa, thus providing an account of how mind can influence matter. The following table shows a juxtaposition of ideas with the Intersubjectivity Scale to convey a foundational understanding of its respective functionalities and interactions:

Authentic Intentionality Expanded Consciousness Astral Abilities Nonlocal Abilities
Intentionality Tranquility Psychoactivity Nonlocality
Highly Subjective Low Intersubjectivity High Intersubjectivity Highly Objective
Psychological Paradigm Energy Paradigm Animistic Paradigm Information Paradigm
Memetic Evolution Higher-Order Systemic Hive Minds Wigner’s Friend Phase Space
„Meaning of Life“ „Energy follows Attention“ „Consciousness as a Substance“ „Mind over Matter“

The third of the „inner-outer“ flow axes is an „Intensity/Low Impact to Generality/High Impact“ axis, manifesting (or, the other way around, initiating) from high-intensity/low „area-of-effect“ („essential“) processes via phenomena in which intensity and „area-of-effect“ are more balanced („application-oriented“) into low-intensity/high „area-of-effect“ („universal“) results.

A combination of these „first“ three „inside-outside“ axes of manifestation and initiation generates 36 „Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes“ which we have termed „Skills“. Together, they form a map (the „Universal Model of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes“ or the „Matrix“) of the common denominator of literally all paranormal processes and their interactionalities (see figure on the next page).

The fourth of these „inner-outer“ flow axes builds on that „nearly-horizontal“ perspective of paranormal phenomena by conveying additional ontological perspectives - those are „higher levels“ of the „Matrix“ processes or Skills that function as „higher octaves“ of their phenomena. Psychically they produce higher probability anomalies, mystically they lead into altered states of mind and world which transform duality into nonduality, and nonduality further into a unification of duality and nonduality similar to a Vajrayana Buddhist meaning of the terms. These higher levels of Reality Crafting become accessible when the whole „Matrix“ has been mastered at an at least foundational level.

The fifth of these „inner-outer“ flow axes is the „half-axis“ hinted at above. It deals with the difference in difficulty of dealing with single- and multi-Skill-processes in our formulated training and practise model. Simply put, before, for example, the abovementioned Skills of „Meditation“ and „Ritual“ are to be combined in some way, some basic proficiency in using them in a „stand-alone“ capacity should have been acquired first.

From the five axes described above we have derived a step-ladder of grades for the intentional production of paranormal phenomena or „Reality Crafting“, which is then utilised for a methodic and as-safe-as-possible development of the extraordinary talents of humanity in a controlled setting.

In order to consistently present our vision for a constructive integration of these extraordinary talents of humanity into the future we now have to take a detour into the past. „Psychic“, „mystic“ or „magical“ capabilities have been immense, intrinsic forces in the histories of all human cultures on our planet, from prehistoric times into the present. „Sceptic“ mainstream historical sciences have attempted to erase that with diverse versions of revisionist history depicting said phenomena and their proponents as nearly universally superstitious and erroneous - we have extensively discussed this fact in the „Witness Problem“. Religious or esoteric tales about our topic, on the other hand, tend to be trumped-up pious stories of their own histories, filled with bizarre fact- and, often especially, evolution-denying „miracle stories“.

The Universal Model of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes a.k.a The Matrix

We want to attempt a rectification of this polarised issue and make an educated guess at what the historical impact and strucures of the paranormal might have had on most human cultures over the course of history. To that end, we have to describe a few core issues in different stages of the historical tapestry of past evolutionary stages of human cultures, most importantly: The purposes which paranormal abilities were used for and by whom, as they have always been inextricably entangled with questions of political power and social hierarchies; the perspectives on said capabilities, when viewed through the lens of the „operational center“ of then-mainstream developmental psychology at some given temporal and local phases of history; and the question of sexuality, instrinsically linked to individual and collective self-determination - or a lack thereof.

Before starting our short history of Reality Crafting we need to take a little detour into developmental psychology in order to understand the social and cultural dynamics of mystic-psychic phenomena in the context of their times and cultures, for which purpose we have chosen Ken Wilber’s take on the „Graves Model“. Said model describes a „holarchy“ of states, which determine how the individual and collective mindscape of persons, small groups as, for example, family units, but also large groups, and „upwards“ to whole societies and cultures, perceive and process the challenges of their times. A holarchic system is a system that, like russian dolls, encompasses and integrates all earlier developmental states, which the term symbolises by uniting „hierarchic“ and „holographic“ into one word.

There are two prepersonal „Graves Levels“, an individualistic and a collective version, which are not of relevance for our essay here as no adult human societies exist on these levels - all human beings which do not exhibit serious mental disabilities rise above them in their „terrible twos“.

The third Graves Level is a prerational, individualistic, „might is right“ state of mind, its negotiation strategy halfways between extortion and violence, typical social structures on that level are, for example, gangs. The fourth Graves Level is an also prerational, but collective state of mind, which exhibits ironclad social rules to get the violent urges of its predecessor level under control. Its ontological position is absolute truth which was proclaimed from an unquestionable source and is enforced via the negotiation strategy of a dictate - its political form is a Dictatorship, and social structures on that level are, for example, feudal systems, fundamentalist religions, and the like. Its ontological level is traditionalist revelation full of vengeful or even punishing deities and spirits which have to be believed without ever questioning them - or else.

The fifth Graves Level is a rational, individualistic, creative-innovative „developmental“ state of mind, its negotiation strategy is a form of teamwork or even democracy, its ontological position a realistic rationalism. The sixth Graves Level is a rational and collective, „empathic-sensitive“, fairness-and-equality-adhering state of mind, its negotiation strategy is endless discourse, its ontological position radical constructivism (as it demands that all positions should be heard and accepted as equal).

The upper end of Graves’ model describes two transpersonal „Graves Levels“, also available in an individualistic and a collective version. These developmental levels have been termed as „integral“ as they are holarchic in the above definition in everything they process, thereby integrating the capacities of all lower Graves Levels into a common denominator. The negotiation strategy of these integral levels is authentic discourse in the framework of an ontological perspective that is strictly empirical and functionalistic, not aiming for fragmentary particular interests or intentions, but attempting an as complete meta-perspective on the whole as possible, in a holistic manner.

The Vertical Model

Having described all Abilities and Skills, it is now possible to go into different degrees of proficiency: The Levels. The New Wizards model explicitly defines six Levels of both Mystic (Authentic Intentionality and Expanded Consciousness) and Psychic (Astral and Nonlocal Abilities) capability. The magnitude of effect of these two categories is defined according to very different criteria, and the attribution of Mystic and Psychic abilities to a particular Level is based on experience and observation, as well as on anecdotal evidence and accounts taken from the relevant literature.

The known Levels of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes have been named as follows:

First Order: Novices 1) Apprentice Level
2) Practitioner Level
Second Order: Adepts 3) Adept Level
4) Supreme Adept Level
Third Order: Masters 5) Master Level
6) Grandmaster Level

The names of the six defined Levels apply to both the individual executing the relevant Skill, and to the effects of the Spells they produce. They are classical terms used similarly in many different cults and cultures. Thus one might have a person who is an Adept, i.e. is competent at a significant number of Abilities at that degree of proficiency. This person might, however, choose to cast a Novice Order Spell, when an effect of a lesser magnitude is required.

The scale of Levels suggested here is, in principle, open-ended at the top. Should even higher capacities of the Skills and Abilities than those already described in the New Wizards’ parapsychological model ever become available, some information about them would already be predefined by what we already know. A Fourth Order might exist; we could, for example, define it as the „Ascended“ Order (a term borrowed from the theosophical movement describing an essentially trans-human being of the highest achievable spiritual and psychic Level). We might, accordingly, name its also hypothetical seventh and eighth Levels „Ascended Master“ and „Ascended Grandmaster“. Their predefined Mystical capability might be the possibility to anchor- or even metaprogram the speculated psychological singularity of Grandmaster Level (see texts below about that). Their Psychic anomaly strength would have to roughly lie between 7σ-8σ and respectively 8σ- 9σ; etc. Due to the fact that any practitioners of Master Order Skills already constitute an extremely rare, if not nearly unique commodity, we will probably not very soon get into the predicament of having to practically define such Levels of extreme, if not superhuman capability.

Mystic Levels

Mystic Levels are classed according to the practitioner's proficiency with regard to the following two aspects: Self-Programming Ability and Point of Identification.

Self-Programming Ability

„This aspect is based on a concept developed by Timothy Leary: Anchor- and Metaprogramming. The basic idea is that each individual, in the course of their psychological development, learns a specific „programme“, which allows them to deal with the things they experience, be it within themselves, with regard to others or in the world of objects. There is a particular programme for each kind of situation, allowing the individual to deal with situations without having to work out afresh how to behave in every instance. This conditional link of situation to programmed reaction is called an anchor, resembles a stimulus-reflex reaction, and is the basis of all human behaviour.“ (Used with friendly permission of Gearwe, on 26 September 2016)

Conditioned programs from personal history dictate certain behaviours or perceptions keyed to specific conditionalities, and evolve by selection during personal history; a process called conditioning. The function of conditionalities is to secure the physical and mental survival of the individual. Any person disregarding their need of security endangers his or her physical existence; someone ignoring their wish for recognition endangers his or her mental integrity. However, conditionings come with the price of ignorance. In order to inhibit premature individual evolution beyond these needs and wishes - which could endanger physical and mental stability - many possible experiences and perceptions must be suppressed or filtered out. These filters are termed conditionalities or conditionings.

Conditionalities function like a kind of internal checklist. For example, in order to ensure their security a person may behave submissively because their boss might fire them otherwise. If someone becomes erotically aroused by a specific situation they may suppress this impulse in order not to be condemned by their - real, imagined or internalised - social environment. Consequently behaviour becomes more and more unauthentic as one can no longer „afford“ to be authentic and gives in to the real or imagined terror of one’s social surroundings. These cumulative conditionalities make it more and more difficult to perceive what one's primary sensations, feelings and thoughts might have been. The process leads to a nearly complete identification with the imagined demands of the internalised social environment, similar to Stockholm Syndrome, where hostages identify with their captors to such an extent that they wish to remain with them even when offered viable alternatives.

This account of conditionalities has been simplified; they nevertheless remain an important and valuable instrument for self-protection. Removing these internalised conditionalities too fast can lead to dangerous forms of depersonalisation instead of personal evolution. Nonetheless the elimination of these conditionings is important and desirable because this kind of self-protection also creates inaccessible issues and blind spots. Thereby conditionalities create self-immunizing and rigid ideas about the world, other people and oneself which no longer permit experiences contradicting these inflexible images. Conditioning massively distorts experience.

By adulthood, mentally healthy persons have usually developed a specific pattern or set of conditionalities that they have identified with completely and which makes their daily routine manageable. This pattern of conditionalities is then termed „me“.

An essential criterion in the context of the New Wizards method is that all conditioned programme-settings, however many an individual may develop, are authentic, congruent and without self-contradiction, as this is the necessary basis for any healthy and holistic development. Therefore, before any serious attempts at anchor- or even metaprogramming are attempted, the goal of practise is to first raise into conscious awareness and then to ensure stable authenticity with regard to ones’ basic personality settings. This foundational realisation is the central task of both Levels of the Mystic Novice Order.

„The purpose of anchor- and metaprogramming is attaining self-determination with regard to one's reactions, ensuring that these do not produce self-contradictory impulses within one’s behaviour, and subsequently the realities we create around us through Psychic Abilities, as well as diversifying the ways we can see and interact with ourselves, others and the world around us.“ (Used with friendly permission of Gearwe, on 26 September 2016)

Anchorprogramming refers to the development of new programmes for one specific situation: where the individual previously knew one option, they now have the options a and b, making them more flexible, adaptable and less determined by external circumstances. Metaprogramming refers to the rewriting of whole sets of programmes, where an individual gains alternative options for a whole range of situations, giving them, in a sense, a whole new personality setting or persona.

Every Mystic Level from the 3rd (Adept) onwards is therefore defined as a metalevel of anchorprogramming: Mystic Level 4 (Supreme Adept) as anchorprogramming2 or metaprogramming, and Mystic Level 5 (Master) as the anchorprogramming of metaprogramming or anchorprogramming3. Beyond that, these concepts implicitly predict the emergence of some kind of psychological singularity for the hypothetical Mystic Level 6 (Grandmaster), which would constitute the ability to metaprogram metaprogrammes or anchorprogramming4, and - at least potentially - so on ad infinitum.

Point of Identification

This refers to the practitioner's point of identification in the relationship between the observer and the observed. Though, to the inexperienced eye, this matter may seem to be a non-issue, this relationship is not as self-evident as often thought, and changes considerably as the practitioner's understanding of their self-in-world develops. With cumulating experience, the practitioner gains the ability to observe with unwavering clarity, and to identify with observational meta-perspectives, first identifying as the observer, then as the object of observation, then as the system of observer and observed, and so on. A useful shorthand for these steps in identification is the use of powers: Observation, observation2, observation3 etc., symbolising each time the practitioner takes an observational „step back“. Sanskrit texts on yoga and meditation describe the different states of mind that occur as observer identification changes over the course of mystical development: The New Wizards method ascribes these to different Mystic Levels.

The point of identification, and whether it lies with the observer as subject, the object observed, or in the act of observation itself, also has a strong influence on which area of the Intersubjectivity Scale secondary- or side-effects of Spells manifest in at a particular Level. This is due to the fact that unconscious issues and processes follow conscious identification, and take effect in the same area of the Intersubjectivity Scale that the point of identification is currently or primarily concerned with. (Used with friendly permission of Gearwe, on 26 September 2016)

Level 1 - Apprentice
  • Self-Programming Ability:
The basic program set we acquire in the course of our psychological development is usually self-contradictory to some extent, and almost always holds some degree of conflictedness. For Apprentice Level practise, the goal is first a struggle for and then to ensure authenticity with regard to this basic personality setting. This refers to the practitioner's ability to perceive, communicate and act in an authentic manner with regard to themselves, other self-aware subjects and the world around them. Authenticity means the ability of unconditional positive regard of one's own perceptions and experiences, which leads to a correct symbolisation of usually unconscious issues or blind spots into awareness. This does not imply unquestioned consent to each and every inner impulse that occurs, but the ability of correct self-perception during this process, without wishful thinking, mystification or repression. In case of Apprentice Level capability, the „Matrix“ - processes in question are no longer unconscious phenomena, but have reached conscious awareness and can be intentionally handled. („Level 1 - Apprentice Self-Programming Ability“ is used with friendly permission of Gearwe, on 26 September 2016)
  • Point of Identification:
At Apprentice Level, the individual identifies as the observer in the system of observer and observed. They experience themselves as a subject „looking out“ onto an external object, that is separate from them. Therefore, secondary- and side-effects tend to manifest themselves in those Skills' specific regions of combined intersubjectivity gradient and self-modus which are no longer unconscious processes, as „individuation“ (in an archetypal sense of the word, see C.G. Jung) phenomena of transpersonal self-contact (or, in other words, as the enabling of reflection on said processes of mind-world interactionality from a Self-experiential perspective for the first time), which is best understood via the Matrix Paradigm.
Level 2 - Practitioner
  • Self-Programming Ability:
The goal of Practitioner Level practise is to ensure continual authenticity with regard to ones’ basic personality setting - which was uncovered or raised into conscious awareness at Apprentice Level - with the help of a Dharana capability. The Sanskrit term Dharana describes the ability to hold onto this observer state with unwavering attention, free from all distractions, with the observer experiencing themselves to be 100% present and consistent for the first time. Actively and intentionally aspiring towards and sustaining of such unbroken authenticity without necessity of professional counselling or guidance is also a requirement for Practitioner Level.
  • Point of Identification:
At Practitioner Level, the individual also identifies as the observer in the system of observer and observed, experiencing themselves as a subject „looking out“ onto an external object, that is separate from them, but, to differentiate this point of view from the Apprentice Level version, in a continuous Dharana state of mind. As identification at Practitioner Level lies with the observer as subject coupled with the capability to hold onto said observer state with unwavering attention, unconscious processes and issues tend to produce secondary- and side-effects which appear as dualistic phenomena mainly based on processes of memetic psychology. As the Memetic Psychology Paradigm is also the most fitting for the Authentic Intentionality position on the Intersubjectivity Scale, the secondary or side-effects of all Practitioner Level Skills describe the implicit Initiation or induction effects of their Skill in the frame of their Authentic Intentionality intersubjectivity position. Any Practitioner Level Skill, when seen through the lens of the Memetic Psychology Paradigm's predictions, therefore has parallels to the corresponding Authentic Intentionality Ability on this Level, especially to the Skill with the same Generality as its „primary effect“ Skill.
Level 3 - Adept
  • Self-Programming Ability:
Mystic Skills must be realised intentionally in everyday life to be considered a Mystic Adept Level effect. Intentionality is a result of deeply self-aware, reflected and aim-oriented thinking, feeling and action. At this Level, Mystic Skills will reveal a „person's unconscious grand destiny in life, a moment to moment path of action that operates in perfect harmony with their nature. It does not always spring from conscious intent, but from the interplay of the observer and the observed. Persons in touch with themselves on this Mystic Level who act intentionally are said to have eliminated or bypassed their conflicting desires, conditions, introjects and habits, and access a connection with their whole self, not just its conscious aspects. At this point Mystic Skills act in alignment with one’s deepest nature, just as a stream flows downhill, with neither resistance nor neurotic „lust of result“.“ (In this section we draw on Wikipedia (2022) True Will. Available at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_Will (Accessed 22 June 2022), paraphrased by Harpocrates (on 14 April 2012), the original text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license 2.0 - for the full terms, visit https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/)

The Adept Level expresses itself in the development of alternatives to the possibilities of the individual's original personal history. On one hand, the practitioner's transpersonal impulse to realise their full potential, leads to the necessity of authentic alternatives beyond the basic setting of behaviours and concepts-of-self that were established in the course of individual development. On the other hand, the transpersonal self begins to be experienced as a force flowing through the practitioner, acting through them, but (yet) beyond their conscious understanding and identification. Thus, Mystic Adepts are no longer exclusively concerned with authenticity, though maintaining it is the root of all further development, but also with creating - by means of anchor-programming - alternative behavioural responses to various situations, thereby increasing their degrees of freedom, allowing them to become more self-determined and raising their psychosomatic complexity.

  • Point of Identification:
At Adept Level, the practitioner experiences the world as brought forth through observation, the nature of objects being produced by their being attributed a function by the observer: A table is experienced as a manifestation of the practitioners concept of „table-ness“. As this process of creating-through-observation is experienced, the practitioner stops experiencing themselves as an inner someone, looking out into an external world, and, instead, identifies with the objects created through their observation. The Sanskrit name for this state of consciousness is Dhyana, which we understand to be the observation of observation, or observation2. As practitioners of Adept Level identify with the objects created through their observation, unconscious processes and issues tend to produce secondary- and side-effects which appear as nondual phenomena mainly based on processes of systemic „energy“. As the Systemic Energy Paradigm is also the most fitting for the Expanded Consciousness position on the Intersubjectivity Scale, the secondary or side-effects of all Adept Level Skills describe the implicit Initiation (induction) or Manifestation (emergent) effects of their Skill in the frame of their Expanded Consciousness intersubjectivity position. Any Adept Level Skill, when seen through the lens of the Systemic Energy Paradigm's predictions, therefore has parallels to the corresponding Expanded Consciousness Ability on this Level, especially to the Skill with the same Generality as its „primary effect“ Skill.
Level 4 - Supreme Adept
  • Self-Programming Ability:
Supreme Adept Level is characterised by a dichotomy of ego and self, as mental complexity has risen to such an extent that a multitude of alternate ego configurations can be combined in any conceivable way, all of which are effectively complete personalities, even in comparison to the original ego of personal history. While Supreme Adept Level Mystic Skills are still based on authenticity, this serves only as a foundation for the massive raising of the practitioner's psychosomatic complexity. Mystic Skills at this Level are concerned with the creation of alternative egos through processes called Metaprogramming, which means the anchorprogramming of Anchorprogrammes. This works by linking whole series of responses to a stimulus, in turn these stimuli can be used to create new internal programme configurations, resulting in the ability to create whole authentically alternate personas by rewriting everything one is and was at once, by letting one's Mystic experiencing utilise oneself as a conduit. The (mental) unity of the person is maintained by the self in the role of a meta-ego. While Leary and others term this stage of personal evolution metaprogramming, Mystics have called it contact with divinity, Guardian Angel or inner godhood - we also interpret this inner godhood as the metaprogrammer or the transpersonal self which has completely emerged into everyday consciousness.
  • Point of Identification:
The practice of Mystic Skills at this Level allows the Supreme Adept to take a further step back in their observation: They no longer identify as observing subject or the object created through observation, but with the act of observation itself. This is experienced as a complete unification of the observer & the observed. This Mystic Level has been termed Samadhi in Sanskrit texts, and is understood to be the ability to observe oneself observing one's observations, or observation3, in other words, the experience of an infinite observation recursion. As a consequence of this direct identification with the interactive processes of observer & observed, unconscious processes and issues tend to produce secondary- and side-effects which appear as nondual phenomena mainly based on the processes of an animistic hive mind. As the Animistic Hive Mind Paradigm is also the most fitting for the Astral position on the Intersubjectivity Scale, the secondary or side-effects of all Supreme Adept Level Skills describe the implicit Initiation (induction) or Manifestation (emergent) effects of their Skill in the frame of their Astral intersubjectivity position. Any Supreme Adept Level Skill, when seen through the lens of the Animistic Hive Mind Paradigm's predictions, therefore has parallels to the corresponding Astral Ability on this Level, especially to the Skill with the same Generality as its „primary effect“ Skill.
Level 5 - Master
  • Self-Programming Ability:
On the basis of historical anecdotal evidence, we can assume that the Mystic Master Level is characterised by a change of identification from the scope of possible egos to the transpersonal self and the emergence of a fourth, holistic self, as increasingly fluid, alternating and overlapping alternate ego configurations merge into a complete meta-identity. Different spiritual traditions have vaguely termed this transition as Ego Dissolution, crossing the Abyss or Cosmic Consciousness. Often, psychological phenomena that can be interpreted as reincarnation memories appear at this Level. Whatever future research will make of such memories, they can certainly be seen in the context of the expected emergence of full alternate egos in a holistic self.
  • Point of Identification:
Where Samadhi allowed the Supreme Adept to identify with the dynamic act of observation, through which observer and observed generate one another, a Mystic Master is able to take an outside perspective on the whole system of observer, observed & the act of observation itself. This experience has been described as „Reality as the Grand Illusion“, and Sanskrit texts call this Mystic Level „the Jhanas“, „Higher Samadhis“ or „Knowledge of Maya“. We define this state of consciousness the ability of observation4, which could also be expressed as the observation2 of observation2, or as a Dhyana on Dhyana. Drastically formulated, this could be described as intentional reality generation, i.e. the ability to manipulate the „Grand Illusion“ of reality itself by acting on one's observation of the infinite observation recursion of the system of observer, observed & the act of observation. As Master Level practitioners experience a de-identification with the whole system of observer, observed & the act of observation itself, unconscious processes and issues tend to produce secondary- and side-effects which appear as phenomena of „reality generation“ mainly based on processes of interaction with Wigner's Friend Phase Space. As the Wigner's Friend Phase Space Information Paradigm is also the most fitting for the Nonlocal position on the Intersubjectivity Scale, the secondary or side-effects of all Master Level Skills describe the implicit (emergent) Manifestation effects of their Skill in the frame of their Nonlocal intersubjectivity position. Any Master Level Skill, when seen through the lens of the Wigner's Friend Phase Space Information Paradigm's predictions, therefore has parallels to the corresponding Nonlocal Ability on this Level, especially to the Skill with the same Generality as its „primary effect“ Skill.
Level 6 - Grandmaster
  • Self-Programming Ability:
The Mystic Grandmaster Level is concerned with the process of metaprogramming Metaprogrammes, resulting in the emergence of a Psychological Singularity, which leads to a complete identification with one's own potentialities - the holistic self - and an equally complete de-identification from the multitude of ego-formations that have become possible. A saying from the Buddhist Visuddhimagga that might relate to this Level formulates this experience: The path is there, but none who travel it.
  • Point of Identification:
When processing Grandmaster Level Mystic experiences, the practitioner can choose to identify or de-identify with any of the aforementioned positions: The observer, the observed, the act of observation, the whole system generated by observer, observed & act of observation in interaction or, indeed, with none of them. Therefore, unconscious processes and issues tend to produce secondary- and side-effects which manifest themselves in all regions of the intersubjectivity gradient, as Reality Shift phenomena best understood via a Meta-Paradigm that combines all former paradigms into a Grand Unified Theory of Reality Crafting. This Mystic Level has been termed Nirvikalpasamadhi in Sanskrit texts. We can also describe this Level of observatory recursion as observation5.

Psychic Levels

Psychic Levels are classified according to the magnitude of the probability anomalies produced: The extent of the improbability that the phenomenon supposedly caused by a Psychic Ability occurred by chance. It can be assumed that such probability anomalies occur only locally and that they don't lastingly change the overall probability distribution, but that this „balances out“ over time; we term the latter phenomenon astral backlash. In case of information supposedly gathered by a Psychic Ability, its Level is defined by the extent of the improbability of guessing that amount of information by chance.

The amount of information transferred by a Psychic capability, measured in bits, is related to the improbability of its being guessed by chance; this relation is expressed through the equation: 1:2 to the power of bits transferred. If our paraphysical hypothesis turns out to be basically correct, the amount of information produced should equate to the minimum amount of q-bits manipulated via measure-erasure feedback-loops.

Novice Order Levels

The probability anomalies produced by Apprentice Level are within 1-2σ (Standard Deviations), in other words, about 1 : 3 to 1 : 22; a corresponding range of information transferred of about 2-4 bits, or a sum total of both anomalies. The probability anomalies produced by Practitioner Level are within 2-3σ (Standard Deviations) or about 1 : 23 to 1 : 370; the corresponding range of information transferred of ca. 5 to 8 bits, or a sum total of both anomalies.

Examples: Novice Order Psychic Abilities could, for example, manifest as the Remote Viewing, or guessing, of a very general subject or the chance acceleration of the healing of a cold.

Adept Order Levels

The probability anomalies produced by Adept Level are within 3-4σ (Standard Deviations) or about 1 : 370 to 1 : 16000; the corresponding range of information transferred of ca. 9 to 14 bits, or a sum total of both anomalies. The probability anomalies produced by Supreme Adept Level are within 4-5σ (Standard Deviations) or about 1 : 16000 to 1 : 2.7 Million; the corresponding range of information transferred of ca. 14 to 20 bits, or a sum total of both anomalies.

Examples: Adept Order Psychic Abilities could manifest in a telepathic guessing of a specific subject, for example that somebody is just thinking about a specific kind of food (average human vocabulary encompasses about 6000 words, about 60 of them are related to food and eating, therefore this would roughly represent a 1 : 500 chance), or a coincidental change in a radioactive decay rate which is statistically highly significant. Another example might be the retrocognitive guessing of the detailed history of an object (also known as psychometry) or the chance total spontaneous recovery from a medically incurable cancer (medical research has determined the probability anomaly for such an event at around 1:100000).

Psychic Adept Order effects often seem to directly imply the physical existence of a Many-Worlds-Multiverse similar to the quantum physics hypotheses of Wigner, Wheeler, Everett and others. Objective realities seem to become programmable in fundamental ways by utilising the principle of multiple probabilistic timelines with differing, but simultaneous pasts, presents and futures.

Master Order Levels

The probability anomalies produced by Master Level are within 5-6σ (Standard Deviations) or about 1 : 1.7 Million to 1 : 5x108 (~500 Millions); the corresponding range of information transferred of ca. 20 to 30 bits, or a sum total of both anomalies. The probability anomalies produced by Grandmaster Level are within 6-7σ (Standard Deviations) or about 1 : 5x108 (~500 Millions) to 1 : 4x1011 (~ 400 Billions); the corresponding range of information transferred of ca. 30 to 40 bits, or a sum total of both anomalies.

On the basis of historical anecdotal evidence, we assume that Master Order Psychic capabilities might make direct perceptions and manipulations of physical energies possible, and that Master Order Proficiency and any even more speculative Levels beyond that might enable the direct transformation of matter or even local space-time.

The relations between the Orders, Levels, Effect Levels and Grades of Reality Crafting described on the previous pages are as follows:

  • Every Order consists of 2 Levels, 4 Effect Levels and 16 Grades of Reality Crafting.
  • Every Level consists of 2 Effect Levels and 8 Grades of Reality Crafting.
  • Every Effect Level consists of 4 Grades of Reality Crafting.

The criteria for the Grades of Reality Crafting are:

  • Every step into the direction of higher Intersubjectivity adds a Grade of Reality Crafting.
  • Every step into the direction of a more manifested Self-Mode adds a Grade of Reality Crafting.
  • Every step into the direction of more Generality of an Ability adds a Grade of Reality Crafting.
  • The same Skill, a Level higher up, has eight Grades of Reality Crafting added, it is on a „higher octave“.
  • Multi-Skill Spells rise in the Grade of Reality Crafting +0.5 per Skill in addition to their highest Grade of Reality Crafting component Skill, rounded up.

Please note on the above diagram that there are eight Skills that are situated inbetween the Yang of Mysticism and the Yin of the Psychic or Magical - which are not „entirely“ mystical or psychic/magical - which is following from the fact that while we generally sort Skills of Authentic Intentionality and Expanded Consciousness into the „Mystic“ and those of Astral or Nonlocal effect into the „Psychic/Magic“ category, according to how the Grades of Reality Crafting differentiate between the Mystical and the Psychic/Magical Effect Levels, the aforementioned eight Skills have contradictory double attributions and do not clearly fall into just one of these two categories, but somewhat overlap between them. These eight, ranging from „Parapsychology“ to „Divination“, might therefore be called „Taoist Skills“.

A Short History of Reality Crafting

Prehistory - Integral Shamanism

The Graves Levels in their foundational structure seem to be hardwired into our consciousness. Yet some of them seem to have lain dormant for - at least - a few millenia for most people in most cultures. By combining these two observations we have come to the logical conclusion that many of our hunter-gatherer ancestors might have already been deeply integral and integrated personalities many thousands of years ago. We have to put this statement into perspective, though, as their social and material lifeworlds were immensely simpler, and simultanously harsher, than that of the 21st Century in the western world, at least on average.

These ownership-free mostly-egalitarian hunter-gatherers probably had their experts for mystic-psychic processes in the form of (referring to the Graves’ model) integrally-minded shamans whose usage of the mentioned processes was mostly directed at the production of useful probabilistic anomalies for better weather, the healing of illnesses and protection for sheer survival in a dangerous environment shared with saber-toothed tigers and mammoths. Having their meaning of life explained to them or being regulated in their sexual impulses probably wasn’t a demand those tribal cultures assigned to their primordial Reality Crafters. The meaning of life was probably pretty obvious to peoples living very simple lives in near-perfect evolutionary balance with nature, and the question of a sexuality which might have run quite undiluted in its primal expression due to few reasons to get into conflict over that ever-present, abundant resource probably didn’t need a lot of moderation under the circumstances.

Ancient History - Visionary Religion

Everything changed with the transition from a hunter-gatherer culture roving over vast territories to resident farming communities. Many evolutionary psychologists have suggested that this step in human history might have been more catastrophic than uplifting in nature for the persons who were caught up in it and experienced it first-hand. While this evolutionary step led to farms and farming, and in the long run, to city- and later nation states and the bundling of resources that this enabled, it also led to the concept of ownership, which, in order to be enforced, needed brutal rules including hereditary ones leading to a repressed form of sexuality as a power- (and property-) preserving tool, and the Graves Levels above four to become mostly and largely dormant in the then new, highly hierarchic and conservative societal structures. The fourth Graves Level probably became the new average adult level of maturity, and the situation would stay that way for thousands of years in most societies, until the end of the Dark Ages.

That also demanded radical changes from the sort of integral shamanism which might have existed for hundreds of millenia during the hunter-gatherer era. While practical probabilistic anomalies were probably still in demand, two mystical foundations of psychic capabilities that would have been taken for granted during the former era had been destroyed by the collective (or hive mind) shadow of what had to have been sacrificed to the new gods of heredity, farming, economy and residency: A self-determined, open and playful tantric sexuality and a simple and natural access to a direct perception of the meaning of ones’ life (see also the „Matrix“ diagram above).

As a consequence, integral shamanism had to transform into a practical visionary religion in which gods took the role of paternal figures for people, no longer as „spiritual allies“ on a level playing field, but as externalised replacements for an integral adult state that was no longer universally achieved or even desireable in the new and more complicated societies, and that included even the newly-developed visionary priest roles. Now, the ancient shamans-turned-priests had to invent ways to guide people, including their own initiates, to and through strictly controlled versions of perceived purpose in life and sexual behaviour which were uneasy compromises between authenticity and culture. For those new priesthoods, the mystical side of Reality Crafting had been compromised, even devolved, and become more difficult on a collective psychological level which would no longer function in the same vein of naive, effortlessly authentic wholeness as in the bygone hunter-gatherer era.

Dark Ages - Priests without Miracles

While nations became Empires and humanity experienced an extreme population growth from about 10 million in hunter-gatherer times to half a billion humans in the year 1000, the ability to manifest psychic influences into the physical world became less and less important for the now well-established priesthoods due to them having entered into lockstep alliances with the power holders of the extremely steep hierarchies that had formed in order to keep control over whole Empires with enormous populations.

Our „Wigner’s Friend Phase Space“ - related „paraphysical“ hypothesis about how psychic capabilities might - in principle - function predicts that paranormal phenomena manifested into the physical world become more difficult to produce in regions with higher „observer or measurement densities“ and in case of greater psychological rigidity of their catalyst psychics. As a consequence of all of these psychological, cultural and physical processes, the now well-established religions began to produce „priests without miracles“ who then started to actively persecute their remaining competitors - despised Reality Crafters now outside all established systems of society who were reviled as being in league with evil forces - in (nowadays eponymous) witch hunts and Inquisitions.

A related german rhyme goes like this: „The minister takes the bishop by his arm: You keep them stupid - I keep them poor!“ (it rhymes in the original german). At some point, all kinds of experience necessary for Reality Crafting were no longer available - or, after hundreds of generations without them, even known - in any form; the „miracles“ gone and only told about in legends and fairy tales; culturally repressed sexuality seen as „the norm of nature“; meaning of life relegated from direct experience not even to personal counceling by visionary priests, but to „holy scriptures“ that only delivered the thinly-veiled narratives useful for the autocratic emperors and their feudalistic enablers; while the last Reality Crafters were systematically hunted down, slandered as followers of ultimate evil: A Dark Age indeed.

Modernity - New Age versus Scepticism

The first successful rebels against the societal dead ends of the Dark Ages were craftsmen. By necessity living outside rigid feudal hierarchies, entitled to be treated according to contracts that had to be agreed upon beforehand instead of being regarded as serfs to be used as convenience dictated by their feudal and clerical rulers, their operational Graves Level rose to five. That, in turn, allowed their worldviews, ideas of man, sexualities, meaning-creation and self-images to evolve away from the constraints that had been getting narrower and narrower on behalf of the interests of the psychopathic dictators that had been ruling them and their ancestors for hundreds of years.

It is, considering the context, hardly surprising that as a consequence they rediscovered mystic-psychic capabilities and termed them „the Craft“. The resulting organisations even survived into the 21st Century under names like „Freemasons“, „Coalminers“ or „Odd Fellows“, and are still massively at odds with the descendants of their former masters. It is probably not surprisingly that both the neopaganist term of „the Craft“ and our term of „Reality Crafting“ (for reality is that which is crafted by „the Craft“) are derived from their terminology. The new and more empirical ways of thinking of these craftsmen furthermore led to what we today call the natural sciences and „the Enlightenment“.

When the Enlightenment happened in the Europe of the 19th Century, the then-new natural sciences attempted to part ways with the remnants of the old and totalitarian „magical thinking“ of fundamentalist religions, leading to an unfortunate polarisation of worldviews when all mystic-psychic phenomena were left to said religions and a few secret societies which had survived since the Dark Ages. Over the course of the following two Centuries of globalisation, two subcultural echochambers evolved, entirely divided from one another.

One of them we might term the „mainstream science sceptics echochamber“ which we have already discussed further above. They have purported the conspiracy theory that paranormal phenomena have never existed, which is in and of itself an impressive mythos considering that the same phenomena have independently and consistently been described by witnesses on all continents in all historical epochs and cultures that our historians are aware of. We assume that the reason for this narrative is a fifth Graves Level - derived „sanitised“ story purported by former adherents of natural magic who have attempted to erase their own history in order to differentiate themselves from the sort of totalitarian religion described above. A historical example of this is the rosicrucian order of the „Invisible College“, which became the mainstream science „Royal Society“ in the 17th Century - and has attempted to erase its paranormal beginnings ever since.

The other pole of this historical split is the „New Age esoterics and occultists echochamber“ which we have also criticised further above. They, on the other hand, have purported many „anything goes“ myths, conspiracy theories and modern pious stories for the gullible, using the sixth Graves Level to hide their often inbuilt hidden totalitarianisms and unfounded „absolute and eternal truths“ behind the whishy-washy logics of overblown forms of relativism. In that, they are the heirs of fundamentalist religion, who have thrown out critically reflecting empiricism and an honest way of dealing with authenticity and sexuality until their versions of Reality Crafting disappear in a „Tower of Babel“ situation of confusing babble which is leading nowhere as far as reasonable understanding and serious personal evolution of and via Reality Crafting are concerned.

The Future - A Technology of Mind

The whole history lesson has now left us at considering the present and future of the paranormal, mystic-psychic phenomena, and their intentional production which we have termed „Reality Crafting“. In the beginning of this text we have started to formulate our solutions in order to repair the polarised split formulated above and to create a version of „real magic“ which is fitting for the 21st Century onwards. Any retro-romantic attempt to resurrect one of the bygone eras or ages of Reality Crafting is doomed, as we presently have an entirely different context than what was the case at any of these past junctions of history and culture.

We think, as already extensively discussed in the beginning of these articles, that we need to arrive at a transhumanistic utopia of mankind, which declares itself solidaric with all sentient beings, allows open and self-determined personal evolution which is, in its contents, only constrained by the limits of consensuality and nonviolence, thereby enabling an empirically researched and reflected form of Reality Crafting as the future’s Technology of Mind. And with that said, only one thing is left for us to expound to the potential New Wizards Candidate, and that is how to become a New Wizard.

How to become a New Wizard

Avenues of Interest

All that said, we need to include into this introduction to the New Wizards a little section of „how-to use the New Wizards Encyclopedia“ - which you can purchase from this website. This book can be a bit overwhelming at first glance. It can be difficult to understand where to start, as this will vary according to one's intentions in using it. Books always fake that their topic was one long timeline, sentence for sentence, page by page, chapter by chapter. This book does not even try: It is more a complex sphere of related, fractal topics, themes and meanings, which are impossible to fit into any semblance of one single line of causality. Any „Encyclopedia is a reference work or compendium providing summaries of information from either all branches of knowledge or from a particular field or discipline“ (Wikipedia (2018, a) Encyclopedia. Available at: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Encyclopedia&oldid=829682098) - in this case, mystic-psychic phenomena and abilities - arranged by thematic categories. So, where best to start or even, what to read at all, directly depends on the intentions of the reader. We will try to solve this problem by providing a few avenues of intent, so that our readers can attribute for themselves into which category or even categories they fall; then, for any avenue of interest, we can lay out a map of recommended reading.

The first and most relevant difference of intent in using this book may be: Is your interest purely theoretical or practical? If your interests lie in understanding the theories expounded here, the second question is: Do you want to know the general gist of all - so to speak, the geographical map to this sphere of topics and meanings - or are you interested in a specific paranormal topic? If you are interested in one or just a few specific paranormal topic(s), you might want to start with the theory sections of those topics. Every single paranormal field has a section on how it fits into the overall universal model the New Wizards have established, which mystic-psychic traditions have used or are using that particular skill, suggestions for further recommended reading and four theoretical perspectives, psychological, systemic-„energetic“, animistic and paraphysical, of how the phenomenon in question can be reflected and predicted.

The Skill sections can indirectly demand from the reader some understanding of the universal model due to its references; in this case, it would make sense to also read the instructional part (the main theory body, in this case) of the Parapsychology Skill, but only the Apprentice Level chapter. There is also a Spellbook, and Adept and Master Order chapters as well, but their instructions are meant for use by years- and decades-long mystic-psychic practitioners and are therefore not of much use to readers with a purely theoretical interest or not a lot of practical experience in the field. Their theory sections might still be of interest for the theoretician, though.

If you want to have an overview about the full universal model of mystic-psychic evolutionary processes, start with the Apprentice Level instructional part of the Parapsychology Skill. This, again, can demand from the reader to also read the Apprentice Level instructional parts of the other two Modelling Skills, Paraphysics and Ontology, as the processes and thoughts reflected therein are actually foundations for the complete model. The „Apprentice Level Paraphysics Instructions“ section is also of special interest to readers who want to understand how the New Wizards theory postulates that psychic abilities function - i.e., how „do our subjective thoughts have an effect on the objective world around us“, which is a typical question sceptics like to ask.

A reader might be a parapsychological or anomalistic researcher, or a sceptic out to debunk the whole thing; in this case, the starting point suggested above - reading the universal model and its prerequisites first - might be the best course. The New Wizards are always interested in feedback from such people, including the sceptics; their results in case of researchers, and if they have a point with their criticism, in case of sceptics; as long as there is a point, this helps us to get our theory and practise better, as a consequence we are always happy to hear the arguments and facts we might have overlooked, so please let us know.

Having basically covered a theoretical interest in the field the New Wizards are about, we can have a look at readers with practical interests. Such readers might be focused on a specific topic or topics, could already be more or less experienced mystic-psychic practitioners from a respective tradition of their own, they might want to start practising some of the processes described in this Encyclopedia, or have an interest to use the models and methods described here as a kind of Rosetta stone to translate between their own mystic-psychic tradition and others, or they (and perhaps their own circle of co-practitioners) are actually interested in joining the New Wizards organisation!

If a reader has a practical interest in a specific Skill, the starting point would be to jump into medias res and read first the instructional chapter, and later search the Spellbook for multi-Skill combination uses of that Skill. In most cases, the Novice instructions and Spellbook will suffice completely; for the Adept instructions are only intended for the few quite advanced practitioners which, on average, have roughly more than one or two decades of solid practical experience with the topic under their belt; and, in the very rare case of the Master instructions being of interest, we will probably be speaking of a level of experience based on more than a half-century of study and practise.

In case of an interest in either using the New Wizards' „common denominator“ models as a Rosetta stone to translate their tradition into others or understanding what the stance of our universal model is on their topics, or also if they want to include the „core mystic-psychic methods“ into their traditional practises or integrate those concepts into each other, traditional mystic-psychic practitioners might be interested in the lexica included in the theory sections of the Parapsychology Skill, in which (amongst other things) respective traditional terminology is translated and sometimes expounded in and into the context of the New Wizards universal model; and subsequently, to have a look into the pertaining practical instructions and Spells which become of interest for them as a consequence.

If someone - on their own or even together with a circle of co-practitioners - is contemplating to join the New Wizards as an organisation, it is very important to assess if such a venture could be a shared interest, so as to prevent disappointment further down the road. In this case, it might be a good starting point - in case of a solitary practitioner just for them, if there is a whole group or organisation involved, for all members of that circle - to read the Apprentice Level sections of the Ontology, Paraphysics and Parapsychology Skills to get a feeling of the scope and contents of the Great Work involved in New Wizards membership. It will be of special interest to read the instructions contained in the Apprentice Level section of Evolutionary Community, as that chapter contains, amongst other things, core information about how to become a member including detailed conditions for membership, the New Wizards Constitution, the contracts of membership, and how to set up or join a hub, group or circle within the organisation.

We have now discussed some possible intentions relevant to „how-to read“ the New Wizards Encyclopedia. The phenomena described and debated are striking, evocative and romantic, and can lead to some of the most impressive experiences known to mankind as of yet. However, it is essential to remember at all times the purpose of these methods, models and the experiences they bring about: All the issues discussed are merely means to an end. The be all and end all of the New Wizards method and organisation is the enablement of the practitioner to discover and realise their Meaning of Life: Without this ability to create our own meaning out of our selves, even the most awe-inspiring experiences are - well, meaningless.

The New Wizards Encyclopedia as a Working Manual

In case of practical interest, and before you start any work on the New Wizards models and methods for yourself, here follows a summary on the prerequisites you should fulfill, irrspective of whether you intend to practise alone, together with interested friends or within the New Wizards organisation.

As a first step, read and reflect on the texts about Modelling, contained in the „Apprentice Level Ontology, Paraphysics & Parapsychology Instruction“ chapters, and the New Wizards Constitution, contained in the „Apprentice Level Evolutionary Community Instruction“. You should then proceed to acquire an at least basic understanding of the Constitution, models, methods and positions of the New Wizards organisation, and agree to enough of those that meaningful practise and, potentially, cooperation with other practitioners can be ensured. Next, check if you fulfill the prerequisites listed in the „Apprentice Level Evolutionary Community Instruction“ - and below.

Be aware that the Ethical Principle of the New Wizards, adherence to which is obligatory for all members, states: Always act in a way that the principles of your actions could become the foundation of general law; humiliation, deception or violence towards any self-aware lifeform is only acceptable in case of self-defence. It contains the implicit demand of adherence to and upholding of human rights and is not regarded as replacing or in conflict with the laws of functioning constitutional states that are also liberal democracies. It is intended to provide a benchmark for ethical orientation, and was derived as a logical combination of Immanuel Kant's Categorical Imperative, Lawrence Kohlberg's Universal Ethical Principles and Wolfgang Kuhlmann's Discourse Ethics.

The reasons for these conditions are that any active New Wizards practise space should always exhibit, for its participant(s), the possibility to be - simultaneously - a non-discriminating, academic, Ritual, Meditation, sacred, practically sex-positive (for example, nudist or swinger) and/or (trans-)humanist political, safe place. It can never be a social-ladder-climbing, careerist, child-rearing (as such a kind of space is not suited for young minors), power games or violence-excusing zone - none of the preceding, also simultaneously.

Should you have any serious issue with any of these proposals, we strongly advise you to neither become a Member of the New Wizards Organisation nor to practise its system on your own, as all of the above have proven to be necessary foundations for the functioning of the sort of safe, visionary, hedonistic and intelligent adult spaces of self-explorational „experimental realities“ the New Wizards aspire to create.

If you do not agree with or fulfill the above criteria with regard to the intention, ethics or stable mind and body, which are nescessary for an as safe as possible practise of Reality Crafting, you might endanger yourself or others by trying despite lacking the nescessary foundations.

Should you fulfill all of the above criteria or have worked on yourself until you do, work through the Grades of Reality Crafting in the sequence indicated by the Encyclopedia. Do not start a new Grade of Reality Crafting before you have completely achieved the one you are currently working on.

A Grade of Reality Crafting is considered to be completely achieved if:

  • You have reached Proficiency in at least one Skill in all Abilities which have been completed prior to and at the Grade of Reality Crafting in question;
  • have also reached Proficiency in at least one Skill each in all Grades of Reality Crafting prior to and including the current Grade; and
  • are able to demonstrate Proficiency of at least one example Multi-Skill Spell of all those Grades, either drawn from the New Wizards Encyclopedia, self-created, or from another tradition.
Prerequisites for New Wizards Practitioners, Expounded

If, after having read and understood all the information contained in this first chapter of the New Wizards Encyclopedia, you have decided that you wish to practise what we are offering, here are our requirements for membership or, if you want to have a try at this on your own or somewhere else, serious advice on what to achieve before you finish your candidacy for the mystic-psychic universe and start some kind of training, practise and research in earnest.

Of Good Physical & Mental Health:

  • In good physical health, which includes no manifest drug addiction issues
  • Legal age, openness to experience and the flexibility of youth: Age range 18-29 at first entry; exception to be made in case of considerable prior knowledge and experience in a relevant self-evolutionary field
  • Not massively over- or underweight (19 < BMI < 27)
  • In good psychological health
  • No tendency to Conspiracy Theories

In the understanding of the New Wizards model, mystic personal evolution is a possible way of dealing with the cognitive dissonance produced by a difference between an individual's vision and its manifestation. Cognitive dissonance refers to the inner stress or discomfort experienced, when an individual is confronted with an idea or experience that is not in concordance with their understanding of themselves or the world. Another way of describing this is via the relation of different aspects of an individual's reality: The ideas we have about ourselves, the world and their interrelations constitute our reflective reality. The things we actually experience, within and without, constitute our experiential reality. The difference between these two, the difference of what we would expect and what we actually experience, constitutes fatalistic reality or fate. Cognitive dissonance is what happens when reflective reality and experiential reality clash.

There are three ways of dealing with cognitive dissonance:

  • One option is to create a blind spot, where the individual altogether negates the existence of the dissonant phenomenon in their reflective reality: The event is simply denied a place in their experiential reality.
  • Another option is projection, where the individual creates an elaborate explanation to maintain their reflective status quo despite the contrary experience by projecting the source of the cognitive dissonance upon a demonised other or others.
  • The third and only healthy option is personal evolution, where the individual works to modify their reflective reality - their understanding of themselves, the world and their interaction - in the light of their experiences, thus reducing the dissonance between the two, thereby reducing their experience of fatalistic reality.

Whether a healthy, adult individual deals with the cognitive dissonance between their vision and manifestation via the development of a blind spot, projection, or evolution, is essentially their own choice. It can be taken as read that the approach that underlies the New Wizards method requires individuals that have chosen the latter option, and seek to expand their understanding of self-in-world rather than deny or explain away the evolutionary motor that is dissonance. It cannot be stressed enough that the New Wizards method will only function in case a practitioner actively strives to resolve their cognitive dissonance via evolutionary processes, and to keep the development of blind spots and projections of their own problems unto others at a minimum.

Therefore the prerequisite of a good basis of psychosomatic health is suggested before any practises that are assumed to expand ones’ consciousness are attempted. Any mystic-psychic practises will, in the beginning, create psychosomatic pressure due to the feelings of dissonance produced by new experiencing; only after working through this and work on integration and reflection a higher level of complexity, inner unity, wholeness or tranquility will be reached.

Manifest drug addiction issues indicate a tendency to self-medicate against already existing massive inner pressures; being beyond a certain age cohort without ever having attempted to live a self-determined life that does strive more for authenticity but what is locally and at the time considered as „normality“ in earnest indicates a lack of intention for deep transpersonal evolution; being massively over- or underweight is also usually indicative of unconscious inner inconsistencies that are being compensated via eating too much (or, the other way around, not eating enough); and a tendency to conspiracy theories indicates both a difficulty to deal with ambivalent life situations plus unresolved issues of anxiety and paranoia.

As all of these problematic coping strategies are indicative that the persons who exhibit them will have a tendency to „resolve“ their cognitive dissonances via blind spots and projection more than authentic growth, we strongly suggest to work on and solve any such issues before moving on to any mystic-psychic practises beyond New Wizards Candidacy.

Of Good Character:

  • No tendency to power games, or overly narcissistic or machiavellian control issues
  • No tendency to violent, psychopathic or abusive behaviour of any sort
  • Generally empathic, solidaric personality, from the personal to the political
  • Adherent of global human rights without „boomeritis“ exceptions

The Ethical Principle of the New Wizards, adherence to which is obligatory for all members, states: Always act in a way that the principles of your actions could become the foundation of general law; humiliation, deception or violence towards any self-aware lifeform is only acceptable in case of self-defence. It contains the implicit demand of adherence to and upholding of human rights and is not regarded as replacing or being in conflict with the laws of a functioning constitutional state that is also a liberal democracy. It is intended to provide a benchmark for ethical orientation, and was derived as a logical combination of Immanuel Kant's „Categorical Imperative“, Lawrence Kohlberg's „Universal Ethical Principles“, Aleister Crowley’s „Liber Oz“, Karl Popper’s „Paradox of Tolerance“ and Wolfgang Kuhlmann's „Discourse Ethics“.

The work of the New Wizards organisation demands constructive teamwork from all involved under sometimes socially and psychodynamically difficult circumstances, and a good relationship to the cultures within which it may have to function. We do neither want our members to become dangers to themselves, their environments or the New Wizards organisation itself, nor for said organisation to devolve into some sort of cult. A healthy personal level with constructive social behaviour in which the unevitable dissonances caused by evolutionary growth can be resolved authentically and peacefully via dialogue is therefore also a necessary prerequisite for our purposes.

Ability for Academic Discourse:

  • No mystification-inducing religious ideology - we do not admit „faith-based“ religious persons
  • No self-immunising „sceptic“ belief systems - we do not admit adherents to Scientism
  • Wish & ability to process mystic-psychic practice via reflected empirical discourse
  • No self-immunising „boomeritis“, pseudotraditional or esoteric belief systems - we do not admit New Age believers

The necessity for these prerequisites has been extensively formulated in the chapters about our „Mission Statement“ further above. Our principle point is that the purpose of the New Wizards organisation is not to facilitate elaborate forms of escapism from reality, but to extend the understanding of and possibilities in the experimental realities our members are experiencing. In their own interest, the worldviews, images of man and self-images of mystic-psychic practitioners should not consist of wishful thinking (the norm in most „New Age“ bubbles) but an intention to understand themselves and the world(s) they are living in.

Disciplined Personal Evolution as Primary Motivation in Life:

  • Child-rearing not one's primary life occupation
  • No neoliberal career wish; life efforts go into self-development or -transcendence
  • Time management: Regular working meetings and doing own practise inbetween is possible
  • Services and membership fees can be adequately paid
  • Active, practical interest in transition to the integral Graves levels

A further necessary prerequisite - in order to be able to deal with the foreseeable psychosomatic dissonances of evolutionary pressures and to avoid spiritual crises - is an enhanced capability of would-be mystic-psychic practitioners to constructively and flexibly organise and structure their liveworlds in order to have the resilience, economic and temporal capacity that the processes of acquiring paranormal Skills will unavoidably demand.

There is no problem with child-rearing, having children or wishing to follow a career path as such from the perspective of the New Wizards organisation as a matter of of course. What this prerequisite demands is that the distribution of ones’ resources should be well-considered before either ones’ children, a workplace or company one is invested in, or the aspired-to personal evolution become impossible to realise simultanously.

That economic stability and functional time management are also necessary foundations for a life that aims to incorporate (in terms of the „integral“ Graves levels) „normal“ everyday chores and „extraordinary“ paranormal experimental realities into each other should not be difficult to understand in the light of all that has already been said about them.

Sex-Positive Worldview:

  • No ideologies attributable to Rape Culture or consent-breaking life practises
  • Not an adherent to sex-negative worldviews of any sort, including feminist versions
  • Ideally, active swingers, tantrics or at least nudists (topic also cleared in romantic relationships); or at least in respectful acceptance of such lifestyles

In light of what has been said about tantra and sexuality - from perspectives both historical and current - in some of the texts further above it will come as no surprise that it is in the interest of the New Wizards organisation to have a safe, sane and consensual internal environment that enables persons interested in developing their sexuality along tantric paths unhindered and in as honest and authentic (for them and their partners) ways as humanely possible.

This prerequisite also touches the topic of the guideline of our foundational ethical principle cited above. While it is not a healthy form of sexuality to have sexual relationships with others „in order to“ achieve or acquire mystic or paranormal capabilities, utilising ones’ sexual desires in an „ethical slut“ (which word is used here in a gender-invariant meaning) kind of way, on the other hand, has been a time-honoured path of mystical realisation, despite one no longer openly represented in most contemporary cultures.

To follow a tantric path is not a requirement for New Wizards membership in any way or at any level, but honest and respectful support for those practitioners that decide for such as consenting adults is a good idea in- and outside our organisation in the light of the historical role repressed sexuality has played and, sadly, still continues to play in human history, paranormal or otherwise, as we have extensively described under „A Short History of Reality Crafting“ above.

Humanistic Worldview:

  • No rightwing or conservative right self-immunising pseudomoralising or discrimination of any sort
  • No rightwing or conservative right nationalist/racist or para-racist ideology
  • No sexist (in the sense of gender-ist), LGBTQ-phobic, fundamentalist or terrorist ideology
  • No leftwing „Political Correctness“ or „Cultural Appropriation“ self-immunising pseudomoralising

These prerequisites are the political consequences of what has been formulated over the course of all texts in this chapter. It has been said that the private can never be divided from the political, therefore we urgently suggest to stand by the political and social values that emerge - out of necessity - from our work in order to avoid inner-outer dissonance.

After you have managed to realise these foundations of a New Wizards Candidate, the only instruction left for us to convey to you individually here is: Good luck on your journeys!

A Grassroots Solution

Having presented our case, what is the present situation of this project? First of all, we have a hypothesis and a method about replicable paranormal abilities that has been developed over the course of many decades. The next step will be to conduct a massive test of the developed methods, processes and models with a lot, ideally hundreds of, practitioners; we basically need to create „a little CERN for the paranormal“. Unfortunately, at this point we encounter a spectrum of serious problems.

One of these is that the project is not ready for the enormous publicity that would be necessary to garner enough candidates for a big New Wizards organisation in order to produce the hundred or more practitioners needed to „test the whole system“ for a few decades as a fulltime job, accompanied by empirical studies about its efficacy. Another one is that our methods - that is the case for all methods that have historically attempted to do what we are attempting to do - involve a lot of ethically sound, but controversial procedures which go right up against any and all authoritarian systems which wish to control people instead of enabling their self-determination, be they, for example, economic, religious, nationalist, „sceptics“ scientism, sexphobic or outright tyrannic. That would garner too much antagonism to allow safe practise in public at such a scale. It might not be possible to secure the practitioners' basic right to have their sphere of privacy protected, for example. And that is a harmless example of the possible problems that might ensue.

We also simply do not have the economic means to realise such an enormous „little CERN for the paranormal“ experiment. That might require a close-knit monastic community of at least a hundred or more practitioners who would practise and test the models, methods and organisational procedures developed over the course of multiple decades as a full-time job. Our calculations estimate the probable costs for such an endeavour at about a hundred million Euro, which is a level of resources that is simply not available to us.

As a consequence, we have founded a smaller organisation than the one described above that is a continuation of the string of informal groups that have created the foundations for the whole concept in order to preserve it into the far future, potentially surviving its founders, which consistently practises the concept described as professionally and as close to the original idea as possible. We have opted to combine this approach with a grassroots attempt to create said necessary „little CERN for the paranormal“ step, which might take decades or even Centuries, out of individual efforts which might combine into a self-organising network of practitioners and, ultimately, into the bigger organisational structure outlined above.

It is for that reason that we have published the whole New Wizards Encyclopedia. This enables any interested party to have an individual shot at this, opening up the possibility to become a part of a self-organising grassroots network of practitioners in the long run. We follow with instructions how such a network could come into existence over time:

The models and practises of the New Wizards Encyclopedia, as it is published, can be worked through as a solitary practitioner. Concordant to that, every such solitary practitioner can work on the establishment of a supportive Evolutionary Community, Network or Organisation for their own benefit. In such a case, every single (self-declared) practitioner is responsible and has the right and duty to personally assure that all quality standards, principles and the ethical guideline listed in the New Wizards Constitution - from the prerequisites to membership to those for Chairperson and all inbetween - are meticulously being adhered to by any and all parties involved including themselves. A fundamental purpose of the Constitution is that the three tiers of membership - New Wizards Membership as such, Tutorship, and Leadership - consist of persons qualified for their respective jobs, that is, to facilitate the Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes that are the aims of all our endeavours as New Wizards.

The essence of Membership boils down to the structured practise of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes as specified under the Apprentice Level Parapsychology Skill section and by the sequences of training and practise indicated by the Grades of Reality Crafting detailed therein. The Essence of Tutorship is the professional teaching, facilitation and classification of said Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes for other members and themselves. The essence of Leadership is the administration and leading of the organisation or, in the grassroots case, present organisational unit, and the updating and maintenance of the contents of all New Wizards models, methods and measuring scales.

A solitary practitioner or grassroots organisation should ensure that as much of the Constitution as possible be realised. The standards regarding how any tier of the New Wizards can be entered, which rights and duties members on a given tier have and how membership of a tier or the New Wizards as such can be lost should be upheld as close to the original version as possible. Without these standards, failure of all the systems of quality control we have developed in order to uphold the aim of initiating and facilitating any functional Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes is most likely, if not practically guaranteed.

It is of the utmost importance that, whenever two or more New Wizards groups or networks happen to come into contact with each other, the next step be an attempt at unification, until a big enough network has been established to form the complete organisational unit that has been formulated in the New Wizards Constitution. All conflicts between such individual grassroots organisations, which are quite foreseeable, shall be negotiated by all individual group Leaderships with the methods of Knowledge Discourse and Mutual Coaching (see Apprentice Level Ontology & Tantric Relationships for that), until all dissent has been organically resolved. To fail in this would mean to go down a (literally) sectarian route that has nothing to do with the fundamental idea of the New Wizards organisation, which balances the rugged individualism of Jungian individuation with the solidarity and possibilities that only a unified, committed collective support network can provide.

It might take some time to achieve this if greater numbers of members are already present in both or even more than two unifying Grassroots networks. That time shall be taken and no over-hasty decisions made that are regretted later; but the aim should always be unification. In case a network does not or not yet have a leadership of its own, the most experienced members shall lead the negotiations for their group. In other words, the final result each and every grassroots group should aspire to should be the establishment of a united New Wizards organisation as described in the New Wizards Constitution.

Constitution

Aims and Contents

  1. The New Wizards Project aims to create and realize a framework for publicly accessible, transparent research and consequently a training process for the development of psychic abilities and the personality development necessary therefore. This framework should be up-to-date and fitting for the third millennium, its evolving nomenclature, models and methods functional and set apart from esoteric, occult and religious ideologies.
  2. A „Wizard“ is a person who has learned to use extraordinary abilities with wisdom. Therefore „New Wizards“ is the name chosen for the organisation working towards these aims in the framework of the regulations laid down here.
  3. As the central subject matter we are concerned with are psychic capabilities and their training - including the personality development or personal evolution and research into the topic needed to achieve that - it is necessary to formulate a positive definition of what constitutes psychic phenomena. We term phenomena or abilities as „psychic“ if perceptions, communications or actions associated with them exhibit at least aspects of nonlocality (i.e. perceptions which seem to utilise others than the usual five senses etc.) and constitute statistically significant anomalies in probability distributions.
    • Psychological and sociological models, especially developmental meta-models that describe individual and cultural patterns of personal and social evolution, for example those formulated by Wilber, Graves, Leary, Reich, Kohlberg and others.
  5. We propose that some practices usually labelled as „spiritual“ or „occult“ can produce these abilities, while the ideologies associated with them are not necessary for this purpose. It is our intention to establish a publicly accessible, serious method of research and training in this field that relates to esotericism, occultism and spirituality in the same way that an empirical science relates to a dogmatic religion: A Technology of Mind.
    • Psychic phenomena are interpreted as a consequence of a Wigner's Friend many-worlds interpretation of quantum physics; we propose a mechanism for these phenomena based on the assumption that organisms can perceive and shift their position in universal phase space. This predicted capability is assumed to manifest itself in an ability to perceive and shift probability distributions (from the point of view of the psychic practitioner).
  7. A New Wizards Encyclopedia shall be maintained and regularly updated as a compendium of all aims and contents of the New Wizards. It should comprise the current version of the Constitution, methods and models up to the time of the current revision and plans for their future development, and all existing procedures of organisation and practise.
  8. The training course sections of the New Wizards Encyclopedia shall take a consistent, modular and standardised form. This convention should present a practical template for the operationalisation of the experiences arising from the application of New Wizards methods and the theoretical constructs or models derived from them by deduction. Thereby their functionality and efficiency becomes verifiable by means of empirical experiment.
  9. If any regulation in the Constitution is not reasonably applicable in a specific case, an alternative solution as close as possible to the original regulation should be found. Whether or not a regulation is reasonably applicable and in case of ambiguity regarding the interpretation of a regulation the decision on further proceedings is made by the Council, whose majority decision on the subject is final.
  10. The New Wizards organisation has three Tiers of Membership, with differing purposes and - in ascending order - increasing levels of immersion and commitment with regard to the aims of the organisation. The Tiers are New Wizards Membership (Specialist Advisor, Trainee or Alumni), Tutorship (Skill Trainer, Process Facilitator or Process Classifier) and Leadership (Councilor, Vice-Chairperson or Chairperson). Conditions for entry, rights, duties, and circumstances that could lead to losing membership of the Tier in question are also cumulative in ascending order.
  11. Any kind of authority in the New Wizards organisation is a know-how authority only, and should never be thought of as an estimation of the worth of a person or as a social ladder to climb. Any New Wizards Member holding any sort of authority in the framework of the organisation must be able to back up their specific position of authority by providing a comprehensible explanation as to what the reasons, purposes and arguments for that hierarchy are, without appeal to said authority.

Conditions, Rights & Duties of Membership

Unregistered New Wizards Practitioners & Groups
  1. Persons who have legally acquired the New Wizards Encyclopedia and use its contents unsupervised, alone or together with cooperators, do not thereby acquire the right to participate in any proceedings of the New Wizards as an organisation. They have the duty to not label their respective activities, if individually or in a self-founded group, as pertaining to the official New Wizards organisation in any way.
  2. Unregistered New Wizards practitioners & groups must accept that the methods and models of the New Wizards are an experimental, speculative, at best protoscientific procedure in fields of knowledge (spirituality, occultism, parapsychology, anomalistics) not yet sufficiently and consensually covered by mainstream science, and that the leadership of the New Wizards can neither give (nor have given) any guarantees of success that their methods and models will function as intended.
  3. For the same, aforementioned reasons, unregistered New Wizards practitioners & groups must also accept that they will undertake any usage of the processes, procedures, models, and methods of the New Wizards exclusively, and under exclusion of any liability for the leadership of the official New Wizards organisation, or recourse to the courts, at their own risk, and have to be aware that the risks and side effects of an experimental method of this kind and magnitude are intrinsically unforeseeable.
  4. Anyone can declare themselves an „Unregistered New Wizards Practitioner“ or even „Unregistered New Wizards Trainer“, but in any cooperation with other self-declared unregistered New Wizards practitioners including potential trainees their claim to fulfil all New Wizards Membership prerequisites and achievement of specific Grades of Reality Crafting have to be demonstrated to such cooperators or prospective trainees as if they were their Process Classifier Tutors.
  5. Unregistered New Wizards practitioners, trainers or groups will, according to their externally visible actions, be confered a „Standing“ by the Council of the official New Wizards organisation:
    • Excellent Standing: It can safely be assumed that all quality standards are „Lege Artis“ as in the official New Wizards organisation.
    • Good Standing: The quality standards are mostly good and no unresolved transgressions against the New Wizards Constitution are known.
    • Neutral Standing: The existence of these unregistered practitioners, trainers or groups is known, there is insufficient information to judge their quality standards available, and there are no unresolved transgressions against the Ethical Principles of the New Wizards.
    • Bad Standing: The unregistered practitioners’, trainers’ or groups’ quality standards are sub-par and/or unresolved transgressions against the New Wizards Constitution exist, but course corrections could still better the Standing.
    • Anathema: Unresolvable transgressions against the New Wizards Constitution and/or unacceptable quality standards and/or being held in criminal contempt has led to a permanent and irreversible denouncement of the official New Wizards organisation from this practitioner, trainer or group.
  6. Unregistered New Wizards practitioners or even their whole groups can become members of the official New Wizards organisation by filing an application and, ideally before the application is filed, already striving to comply with the conditions and duties which New Wizards Membership requires. While such a fast-track admission of new members might include classification into a previously acquired Grade of Reality Crafting at entry, all rules for testing them still apply and the aforementioned practitioners or groups must not be in Bad Standing or worse. For this special case the maximum age at entry and „minimum of at least two hours per … of Practise, Self-Experiential Sessions and Theory Reflections“ testing requirements are waived.
Conditions of New Wizards Membership
  1. Any person wishing to acquire New Wizards Membership (Trainee) must fulfill all of the conditions listed below. They must agree to be tested via a Candidate Interview held by a Councilor and their team assigned to the case before being accepted as adequate. During the Candidate Interview, candidates must plausibly demonstrate that they have achieved the following criteria:

  1. After their Candidate Interview has been successfully completed by fully satisfying all of the above conditions, any New Wizards Candidate shall be appointed as New Wizards Member (Trainee) or New Wizards Member (Specialist Advisor) by their Councilor, with all rights and duties pertaining to that status. In case of failing the conditions and prerequisites of Membership, the Councilor must turn down such Candidates and inform them of the reasons therefore.
  2. Application for New Wizards Membership (Trainee) requires the provision of the candidate’s photo, name, passport copy, certificate of good conduct and a detailed self-authored description of how one fits all membership conditions listed above under Point 6 - Prerequisites and a curriculum vitae with all information deemed relevant for mystic-psychic training. Also required are two short essays answering the questions „Why do I want to join the New Wizards?“ and „What is it that I can contribute to the New Wizards as an organisation?“.
  3. Candidate Interviews including all procedures involved in potentially accepting a New Wizards Member (Trainee) must be paid at a rate of 50€ per hour plus whatever expenses accrue per Leadership Tier Member working for the Interview, irrespective of their outcome. Any Leadership Tier Members’ rates already covered by their regular monthly working hours are exempt from this regulation. Should the inclusion of one or more Specialist Advisors who help with assessments in such interviews become necessary, they must also be paid at that rate per hour by the prospecting New Wizards Candidate.
  4. For the acceptance of a New Wizards Member (Specialist Advisor) most of what is listed above under 8. and 9. can be waived, with the exception of providing their photo, name and passport copy for the New Wizards organisation.
  5. Candidates who have been turned down can file another application with the Council after the space of one year. If every condition listed is then satisfied during another Candidate Interview, the Candidate can be accepted as a Member by any Councilor.
  6. Reasons for these conditions: Any active New Wizards practise space should always exhibit, for its participants, the possibility to be - simultaneously - a non-discriminating, academic, Ritual, Meditation, sacred, practically sex-positive (for example, nudist or swinger) and/or (trans-)humanist political, safe place. It can never be a social-ladder-climbing, careerist, child-rearing (as such a kind of space is not suited for young minors), power games or violence-excusing zone - none of the preceding, also simultaneously. Whoever has an issue with any of these proposals, should never become a Member of the New Wizards organisation, as all of those are necessary for the functioning of the sort of safe, visionary, hedonistic and intelligent adult spaces of self-exploration the New Wizards aspire to create.
Duties of New Wizards Membership
  1. The Ethical Principle of the New Wizards, adherence to which is obligatory for all members, states: Always act in a way that the principles of your actions could become the foundation of general law; humiliation, deception or violence towards any self-aware lifeform is only acceptable in case of self-defence.
  2. The Ethical Principle of the New Wizards contains the implicit demand of adherence to and upholding of human rights and is not regarded as replacing or in conflict with the laws of a functioning constitutional state that is also a liberal democracy. It is intended to provide a benchmark for ethical orientation, and was derived as a logical combination of Immanuel Kant's Categorical Imperative, Lawrence Kohlberg's Universal Ethical Principles and Wolfgang Kuhlmann's Discourse Ethics.
  3. All members must consent that discoveries, models and methods which originate from their work in New Wizards groups can become part of future New Wizards courses, models and methods, and that the New Wizards as an organisation keep the right of use without charge, even if the membership of the inventor or discoverer ends.
  4. All members and candidates are obliged to treat private information about other members and membership candidates, that they learned in the context of the New Wizards, with the utmost confidentiality; this obligation does not end if membership is terminated or never acquired, in order to ensure the fundamental right of privacy for all past, present and future members.
  5. All members are obligated to avoid conflicts of interest with other organisations. A conflict of interest is constituted by activities whose consequences lead to the direct or indirect noncompliance with the regulations, so that their purpose can no longer be fulfilled and the stipulated standards of quality and safety of research, training and professionalism of practical work can subsequently no longer be maintained.
  6. In case of ambiguity of whether membership in or cooperation with other organisations, institutions or unions might cause a problematic conflict of interest with New Wizards membership, the decision on further proceedings is made by the Council, whose majority decision is final. If a member does not comply with such a decision, their New Wizards membership with all associated privileges is automatically terminated.
  7. Forums or communities which are purely platforms for the discussion of the experiences of personal evolution and psychic phenomena, and which do not present training courses or organisational structures of their own, must only fulfil three of the stipulated criteria: Intact reputation, and no conflicts with either the interests or the Ethical Principle of the New Wizards.
  8. As far as the question of ethical integrity is concerned, note that the Ethical Principle is specifically incompatible with racist, para-racist, nationalist, fundamentalist, terrorist, sexist (in the sense of gender-ist), homophobic or generally sex-negative worldviews, inhumane treatment of sentient lifeforms or any form of behaviour which would have to be considered antisocial from a holistic, integral point of view. As a consequence, exhibiting such problematic behaviour or value systems, condoning them, or being a member of or close to organisations which promote them, will always constitute a conflict of interest with the New Wizards organisation.
  9. In the case that New Wizards members are also members of another organisation which presents its own training course and organisational structure and also has the aim of personal evolution or the training of psychic abilities, it is necessary to ensure that all five criteria of the cooperation regulations are fulfilled by the other organisation without doubt: Transparency, competence, intact reputation, ethical integrity and no danger of a conflict of interest.
  10. After the first year of active training, which is mandatory for every New Wizards Member (Trainee), and then again every following calendar year, all members except New Wizards Members (Specialist Advisor) must decide whether they want to continue their training. This decision must be taken annually - at the latest three months before the start of the next calendar year - and is valid for that year. This regulation serves to ensure that Tutors and co-members can consistently plan the joint ventures that this decision might affect. Should they decide for another year in training, such members are obligated to immediate payment of their yearly membership fee and all Tutor expenses that are to be expected for the upcoming year in training.
  11. A New Wizards Member (Trainee) who is currently in a calendar year without any active training, thereby becomes a New Wizards Member (Alumni) for the training-free duration. A New Wizards Member (Alumni) has the same rights and duties as a New Wizards Member (Trainee). If a New Wizards Member (Alumni) reenters training, they revert back to their former New Wizards Member (Trainee) status.
Rights of New Wizards Membership
  1. New Wizards Members (Trainee) generally acquire the right to attend all Tutor-led and cooperative activities of any New Wizards Node, provided they are suitable for their current Grade of Reality Crafting and Skill areas. This includes Practise, Self-Experiential Groups, Theory Reflection & Process Classification, in the form of Workshops, one-on-one Training or Pioneer Groups. They further gain the right of participation in the New Wizards internal Web 2.0 community for the purpose of sharing experiences, anecdotal evidence, and experiments.
  2. New Wizards Members (Specialist Advisor) have the right to participate in any New Wizards Node in their capacity as Specialist Advisors, in both Pioneer Groups and open cooperative undertakings in so far as they are competent to do so and in the New Wizards internal Web 2.0 community.
  3. It is in the interest of the New Wizards that a professional culture of publication in the field of personal evolution, psychic and anomalous phenomena is developed. New Wizards Members can circulate or publish research results obtained within the framework of the New Wizards, if the member in question was actively involved in obtaining the results, any co-researchers have given their consent and the privacy of involved members is protected.
  4. Any New Wizards Member can terminate their membership at any time by sending written information of this decision to the Council. Re-entry of persons whose membership was terminated, be it by their own decision or due to exclusion by Council decision, is generally possible after a ban of two calendar years. This measure is implemented to ensure that any termination of membership is not undertaken lightly or with strategic intent, but given due consideration by the member.
Conditions of Tutor Membership
  1. Any New Wizards Member (Trainee or Alumni) seeking to become a Tutor (Skill Trainer) must have reached the 2nd Effect Level (Apprentice Wizard). They may give trainings for the practise of Skills in which they themselves are proficient up to the Grade of Reality Crafting immediately below their own. They must also exhibit a good theoretical understanding (and be able to apply that to practise) of the Theory Sections of the Skills they are offering to teach, and be proficient in all Modelling, the Tantra and the Evolutionary Community Skills at and up to the Grade of Reality Crafting they themselves have reached.
  2. Any Tutor (Skill Trainer) seeking to become a Tutor (Process Facilitator) must have reached the 2nd Level (Practitioner). Ideally, they should either have gained an accredited qualification in a psychosocial field or alternatively have completed an introduction into the New Wizards state of the art procedures of Tutoring. At the very least they need to possess an ability to recognize the need for professional help if necessary. They also have to exhibit a good practical and theoretical understanding of the current ontological, paraphysical and parapsychological working hypotheses, and especially be capable of applying them to the Skills in which they offer training.
  3. Any Tutor (Process Facilitator) seeking to become a Tutor (Process Classifier) must have at least reached the 2nd (aka Adept) Order. They have to exhibit an excellent practical and theoretical understanding not only of the current ontological, paraphysical and parapsychological working hypotheses, but also of the predictive formula for cognitive dissonance to assess the evolutionary results that can be expected for practitioners under specific - including very non-standard - circumstances including the ability to aptly judge their trainees individual resilience factor.
  4. Any New Wizards member shall be appointed as Tutor of whatever rank by the Council if all of the above conditions have been fully satisfied.
Duties of Tutor Membership
  1. Any action as a Tutor should be conducted in a calm, relaxed and non-competitive manner of discussion and reflection of experiences and the theoretical constructs derived therefrom by means of a specific form of discourse. Such discourses should take the form of conversations and project work. The discourse cycle should consist of stating facts (meaning experiences but not necessarily their interpretations), arguments (meaning reflection of experiences for the purpose of predicting future experiences) and subsequently experimental, empirical verification of those predictions (on the basis of comparing them to past and future experience). This strategy is of especial importance during Practise, Theory & Process Classification sessions.
  2. Coaching in the framework of New Wizards Tutorship necessitates the following rules, which must be autonomously adhered to by both Tutor and trainee(s) during the entire tutorial relationship: Only topics which definitely or at least indirectly concern the currently trained capabilities should be object of communication; the first-person form should be used in conversation; all concerns and statements brought forward should relate to specific, individual and concrete persons or topics rather than „people“ in general, fictional third parties or philosophical treatises; in addition, both Tutor and trainee(s) should endeavour to achieve understanding and authenticity both towards themselves and each other. This strategy is of especial importance during Self-Experiential Group sessions.
  3. Any Tutor must conduct any service in the frame of the New Wizards with the greatest possible accuracy, professionalism and fairness. If a member is of the opinion that their Tutor was lacking in professionalism while conducting their training, the Council can be called upon to review the way the trainee was tutored. The subsequent decision of the Council concerning the results of the training and possible consequences for Tutor and trainee is final.
  4. Active Tutors of any rank are obliged to participate in intervision sessions with other Tutors, also professional supervision from outside the New Wizards organisation is alternatively acceptable for this purpose.
  5. Tutors (Skill Trainers) are responsible for providing professional training in theory and practise via Practise & Theory Reflection sessions, utilising the methods of discourse, coaching and the conduction of experiments.
  6. Practise sessions have the purpose of providing the kind of feedback and information as far as training, practise, integration into everyday life and the resulting experiences are concerned, which is not easily possible to convey with a written instruction and, therefore, needs meaningful communication with an already experienced other. The Tutor asks questions they deem relevant for feedback and supervision of the respective trainee's self-evolutionary and psychic processes. Feedback from other trainees is also welcome and has proven to be an additional asset for both the Tutor and the trainees. This feedback should be framed as a discourse or, should an emotional issue arise, coaching.
  7. Practise sessions consist of the collective working of one or more Skills by the whole group of trainees. The Tutor(s) supervise the finding of a concerted intention, temporal synchronicity and overall performance; and are responsible to intervene if problems arise at any point in the process(es).
  8. Theory Reflection sessions take place for the purpose of learning and further development by working through and debating the Theory Sections of the Skills that are currently being practised; for advanced trainees, that may lead to discourses about the ontological, paraphysical and parapsychological working hypotheses of the New Wizards project. How much of the proceedings are discursive or take the form of a lecture by the Tutor(s) depends on the experience of the attaining trainees.
  9. Tutors (Process Facilitators) are, in addition to Skill Trainer methods, also responsible for providing professional training in theory and practise via Self-Experiential Group sessions. Process Facilitators should nondirectively support their trainees in the realisation of the aims of the currently trained Skills or Grade of Reality Crafting by means of discourse, which is meant to further correct understanding of the instructions, and coaching regarding practical applications and the integration of the resulting resources into everyday life.
  10. Self-Experiential Group sessions utilise the processes of coaching; the Tutor(s) are in this case more organisers, part of the group and not facilitators, in contrast to other meetings; but they are required to intervene according to their experience if a difficult situation arises. For very experienced participants, the means of the self-experiential processes can be augmented by altered states of mind, or even tantric or psychedelic experiences; but always in the frame of responsible regard for the weakest link and the safety and security of all participants.
  11. Process Facilitators are also responsible for recognising signs of psychodynamic problems which can occur during the course of trainees’ mystic-psychic evolution that are not solvable in the framework of the New Wizards organisation (which cannot and will not provide psychosocial treatment or counselling), and give competent advice for external options of resolution; they themselves are forbidden to undertake anything resembling psychological treatment or counselling in any working relationship in the framework of the New Wizards organisation.
  12. The New Wizards define all procedures as psychological treatment or counselling, in which the main function of the Tutor is not limited to mostly nondirective instruction in the correct use of the methods, models and procedures in the framework of the current training course and regulations, while leaving the specific application to the individual lifestyle design to the trainee, but directly influences the trainee's life through actions or advice.
  13. All New Wizards Members, especially those of any Tutor Tier, who are qualified in any psychosocial vocation, are obliged to avoid conflicts between those and their work in the context of the New Wizards. Members are prohibited from recruiting or advertising people into the New Wizards who have contacted them for any kind of psychosocial treatment or counselling. Any two members who have been in a psychosocial treatment or counselling relationship should not enter any New Wizards working relationship or vice versa, unless a minimum time interval of a decade has passed.
  14. Tutors (Process Classifiers) are responsible for the professional assessment of the state of members' individual Skill Levels over the entire course of the New Wizards Universal Model of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes. They are obligated to consult further colleagues with the same Tutor rank should their own Skill and Level range in the New Wizards organisation turn out to be insufficient for a specific classification. As their assessments concerning the achievements of members can have far-reaching consequences for the whole New Wizards organisation, their decisions can be repealed by the New Wizards Council by majority decision in case of a well-founded proposal.
Rights of Tutor Membership
  1. Tutors can offer all training services pertaining to their rank in all Skills in which they themselves are proficient up to the Grade of Reality Crafting immediately below their own.
  2. Tutors from Process Facilitator rank upwards can suspend their trainees from all New Wizards training and cooperations by notifying the member and the Council in written form, if according to their judgement the trainee is endangering themselves or others, is attempting to convert the tutorial relationship into psychological treatment or counselling, or has deviated far from their membership prerequisites since becoming a member. If appropriate, the Tutor can suggest seeking professional psychosocial help to the trainee. The final decision on the Tutor's assessment regarding possible suspension and the further steps in each individual case lies in the responsibility of the Council.
  3. A trainee is considered as „proficient“ in any Skill or Spell on any Grade of Reality Crafting if they have succeeded in an appropriate empirical testing procedure, which indicates reliable proficiency at the scale its respective Level indicates. Any such testing has to be applied by one or more Tutor(s) of Process Classifier rank if it is to be accepted by the New Wizards organisation, and has to be paid at a rate of 80€ per Tutor work hour plus whatever expenses accrue.
  4. A Grade of Reality Crafting is considered to be completely achieved if:
    • The trainee is proficient in at least one Skill in all Abilities which have been completed prior to and at the Grade of Reality Crafting in question;
    • is also proficient in at least one Skill each in all Grades of Reality Crafting prior to and including the current Grade;
    • is able to demonstrate proficiency of at least one example Multi-Skill Spell of all those Grades, either drawn from the New Wizards Encyclopedia, self-created, or from another tradition; and:
    • a minimum of at least two hours each of Practise, Self-Experiential Sessions and Theory Reflections with a Tutor per chosen Skill and Multi-Skill Spell of the Grade of Reality Crafting in question have taken place.
  5. Testing for a Grade of Reality Crafting shall rest mostly on a detailed account written by the trainee, at least 2-3 A4 pages (1000-1200 words) per Skill or Multi-Skill Spell, which has to expound the following topics:
    • What was practised
    • What were the reasons and intentions for choosing these specific Spells & Skills
    • How was it done
    • What were the experiences when practising them
    • A summary of the practical results
    • A reflection on those results in the framework of the New Wizards methods & theories
Conditions of Council Membership
  1. Any Tutor (Process Classifier) seeking to become a Councilor must have been a New Wizards member for at least five uninterrupted years of membership, have at least three years of practical experience as a Process Classifier and there must either be an open position on the Council or the applying Tutor (Process Classifier) must be better qualified in the chosen field of expertise in question than the incumbent. Further, every Councilor must be an expert - in theory and practise - of a chosen field of expertise.
  2. All Councilors are appointed for life, unless they resign, are removed from the position by an unanimous vote of the remaining Council, or if another member who also fulfils the minimum requirements develops better qualifications in the chosen field of expertise in question, for instance due to more extensive commitments to the New Wizards organisation or a higher level of proficiency in mentioned field of expertise than the previous Councilor.
  3. If there is more than one suitable candidate for any available position as Councilor, the candidate who has the best credentials shall obtain the respective position. This most suitable person shall be determined via adding to a sum total the following numbers:
    • The years of their present, uninterrupted membership with the New Wizards organisation;
    • plus any years of active Tutoring membership (also during the current stretch of uninterrupted membership);
    • and their Grade of Reality Crafting.
  4. Any Tutor (Process Classifier) shall be appointed as a Councilor by the Chairpersons if all of the above conditions have been fully satisfied.
  5. Any Councilor seeking to become the Vice-Chairperson of the Council must have been a member for at least ten uninterrupted years of membership, have acquired at least three years of experience of active work as a Councilor and the position of Vice-Chairperson has to be open. In case of an acting Chairperson, the most suitable Vice-Chairperson is personally chosen from all suitable applicants by the Chairperson. Should both Chairperson positions be vacant, the most suitable Vice-Chairperson shall be determined via the same points system used for Councilors with the additional provision that any active years at the Council are also added to the sum total of the other three factors. Any Councilor seeking to become the Vice-Chairperson of the Council is appointed as such by the Chairperson (or, in case of a double vacancy, the Council) when the above conditions have been fulfilled.
  6. Any Councilor or Vice-Chairperson seeking to become the Chairperson of the Council must have been a member for at least fifteen uninterrupted years of membership, have acquired at least five years of experience of active work as either a Councilor or Vice-Chairperson and the position of Chairperson has to be open. In case of an acting Vice-Chairperson, the Vice-Chairperson automatically becomes the new Chairperson, whose first duty is to personally choose a new Vice-Chairperson from all suitable applicants for that position. Should both Chairperson positions be vacant, the most suitable Chairperson shall be determined via the same points system used for Vice-Chairpersons. Any Councilor or Vice-Chairperson seeking to become the Chairperson of the Council is appointed as such by the Council when the above conditions have been fulfilled.
  7. Both Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson are appointed for life unless they resign. As the Chairperson must be the owner of the organisation, and the Vice-Chairperson the sole legal heir to that ownership, they cannot be removed from their position in any other way.
Duties of Council Membership
  1. Together, Chairpersons and Councilors form the Council of the New Wizards which is jointly responsible for:
    • The keeping of a Chronicle, in which all events, decisions and processes which are relevant to the New Wizards Constitution or Encyclopedia are recorded by date;
    • the keeping of an Archive comprising all relevant personal data and academic publications of the New Wizards members;
    • the convention and organisation of Congresses;
    • the acceptance and termination of New Wizards membership (individual Councilor decision in case of acceptance and simple majority in case of expulsion);
    • in general, all organisational and administrative decisions (usually by simple majority, exceptions below);
    • fulfilling the roles of ethics committee, complaints office and arbitrating body (also by simple majority);
    • the upkeep and expansion of the New Wizards Encyclopedia, including further development of and changes to theory and practise including all models and procedures contained therein (by two-thirds majority);
    • both the expulsion of a Councilor from the Council or the New Wizards organisation as such and changes to the New Wizards Constitution as well (by consensual decision of the remaining Council Members);
    • and to be on the lookout for signs of psychodynamic problems which can occur during the course of New Wizards Members mystic-psychic evolution that are not solvable in the framework of the New Wizards organisation (which cannot and will not provide psychosocial treatment or counselling), and to give competent advice for external options of resolution in such a case.
  2. The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson are jointly responsible for the task of coordinating the whole Council.
Rights of Council Membership
  1. All Council members have the right and duty to accept new members into the New Wizards by conducting entry interviews and any necessary test(s) to ascertain the prerequisites for New Wizards Membership on their own discretion, in the defined framework.
    • The Council can suspend or temporarily or permanently exclude any non-Council members from all New Wizards activities and membership itself by notifying the member in written form, if according to their judgement the member is endangering themselves or others, has deviated far from the membership prerequisites since becoming a member or is intentionally and irredeemably in non-compliance with the New Wizards Constitution, especially in case of violations of the New Wizards ethical guideline. A decision by simple majority of the Council suffices for the suspension of or exclusion from New Wizards membership for any non-Council members. Re-entry conditions for an excluded member must be set by the Council during an eventual decision of exclusion.
    • A consensual decision (with the obvious exclusion of the member in question) of the Council is both necessary in case of the suspension, demotion to a lower Tier of membership or exclusion from New Wizards Membership as such in case of any Council Member, and for any changes to the New Wizards Constitution. The reasons for any such drastic decision must be given in detailed written form, as these processes should on no account be abused for political manoeuvring.
    • All Councilors have the right of a vote each in any decision of the Council and the right of veto for changes in their respective field of expertise. The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson both, in addition to the right of a vote in any decision of the Council, also hold the right of a further decisive vote in case of an even split of votes and the right of veto for any and all Council decisions.
    • The New Wizards as an organisation is owned by the Chairperson. The Chairperson does not have the right to dissolve the organisation, to sell it whole or any parts or assets of it to any outside parties; they could only resign their position(s) and/or leave the organisation, in which case their ownership would end and be transferred to a new owner according to the regulations governing the selection of new Chairpersons.
    • The financial compensation of Councilors and Chairpersons on the Council is given out monthly from the assigned budget; it is either determined by the respective budget's upper limit or capped at their set rate for eighty hours of work per month, which they are obligated to invest into their chosen position. Those payments are to be continued in case of illness or holidays. Council Member contracts should treat them as legally self-employed. The Economic Concept of the New Wizards envisages that the Council should be scaled up or downsized accordingly with the income of the organisation.
    • Inbetween options between these scalings of the Council are possible and can be agreed upon by the existing Council in keeping with the relationships shown here as a guideline.
    • Should the Council, for example due to dwindling membership numbers, have to be downsized again, payments must be retracted in the same order as they would have been started to be given out. In such a case, unintentionally unpaid Councilors could not demand further payment from the New Wizards organisation, but would have to make the decision to either deliver partially or completely honorary work, or to temporarily or permanently step down from their position as Councilor, according to the demands of the situation.
    • As long as no full Council exists, especially if and when Chairpersons are the sole Leadership, Specialist Advisor members shall be utilised as honorary, vote- and vetoless stand-in human resources for the missing Councillor expertise.
  2. The table below lists a few possible Council scalings examples:
New Wizards (paying) Members Council consists of … Fields of Expertise Notes

New Wizards Organisation

Economic Concept
  1. All New Wizards Members with the exception of New Wizards Members (Specialist Advisor) have to pay a general membership fee of 30€ per month to the New Wizards organisation. Two thirds of the net value of this organisational income is used for financial compensation for the research, development and administrative work of the New Wizards Council. The remaining one-third of this net income is to be used for the upkeep of the New Wizards organisation as a whole.
  2. New Wizards Members also have to pay an hourly compensation for any Tutor services rendered - individually, or a group of trainees can divide those fees evenly amongst themselves. They must also compensate Tutor expenses that occur due to their organisation of trainee groups, such as paying rent for seminars, accomodations for Tutor and trainees, or working materials.
  3. In the special case of individual, one-on-one training provided by a singular Tutor to a singular trainee (and assuming a „3+½“-hour Template - consisting of three hours of training and 30 minutes of empirical Skill testing procedures on average per month, 10 times per year) the Tutor compensation may be paid monthly as part of an extended membership fee of 325€ per month to the New Wizards organisation.
  4. New Wizards Members who leave the New Wizards organisation for whatever reason without having fully consumed their tutoring budget for a calendar year in which they decided for annual training automatically forfeit their claim to it and de facto donate it to the organisation.
  5. New Wizards Members (Specialist Advisor) are not obligated to pay any kind of membership fee, as their contribution to the New Wizards organisation is considered to be the additional practical Skill training and associated advisory capacity they can provide.
  6. The compensation for work done by members for other members or the New Wizards organisation as such is regulated via set rates per hour:
    • Any New Wizards - internal work compensation unregulated under the Tutor & Council sections: 20€
    • Any training given by Specialist Advisors and Councilor & Chairpersons’ hours: 60€
    • Any training or Spell, Skill or Classification work done by Tutors of any Rank: 100€
    • Inflation adjustments to all the sums given is to be done in 5%-steps with the 1st January 2025 as baseline.
New Wizards Network & Nodes
  1. The New Wizards organisation is to be structured as a network of mystic-psychic practitioners. Any three or more members in sufficient geographical or virtual proximity to each other for regular group work in the framework of the New Wizards can found a Network Node (Evolutionary Community). There are six possible Levels such Evolutionary Communities might attain: A Training Circle, an Academy of Research, a Monastery of Wizards (simultanously a Community & Academy) and a Self-Sufficient Monastery (of Wizards). Two even more advanced Levels of Evolutionary Community have been speculated upon in the New Wizards Encyclopedia.
  2. A Training Circle has to offer access to one or more Skill Trainer(s), Process Facilitator(s) and/or Process Classifier(s) adjacent to the Node, enabling regular Skill Practise, Self-Experiential Groups, Theory Reflection and Process Classification meetings.
  3. An Academy of Research must, in addition to all the functions of a Training Circle, establish permanent premises for New Wizards activities such as rooms for general Skill Practise, work that needs isolation, such as meditations or rituals, a Library and/or Laboratory for Theory Reflection sessions and experiments, a place for Self-Experiential and/or Tantric Groups, Pioneer Groups, or an office for administrative purposes.
  4. A Monastery of Wizards must, in addition to all the functions of an Academy of Research, permanently provide living space for its members. The term „Monastery“ should not imply religious teachings or practises, but refers to the original idea of a Monastery as a place of learning which also provides a permanent residence to its scholars.
  5. A Self-Sufficient Monastery (of Wizards) must, in addition to all the functions of a Monastery of Wizards, offer the option for a communal Basic Income Scheme, Self-Sufficiency via production of food, basic goods and energy, a permanent nudist or swinger area for Tantric purposes, and a self-organised on-site self-policing security system.
  6. All New Wizards Nodes have the right to be essentially self-governing and self-organising, as long as they stay within the framework of the New Wizards Constitution, in theory and practise.
  7. All currently operating New Wizards Nodes are to be listed on the New Wizards Web 2.0 website, including their self-chosen name, functional title and region of operations.
Training Sessions & Pioneer Groups
  1. Training of the Evolutionary Processes described in the Apprentice Level Parapsychology Instructions under „Universal Mystic-Psychic Skills Model“ shall follow the sequences indicated in the Grades of Reality Crafting. That work shall be done in accordance with one of four „good practise“ example formulae. All Group Templates should consist of New Wizards Members (Trainee) who share the same Level.
  2. Weekend Groups of up to eight trainees can be held by one or more Tutors. We suggest a Template for monthly group meetings, 10 (or 5, or 3) times per calendar year. This Template consists of a monthly (or bimonthly, or trimonthly) practise weekend, designed to run for one (or two, or three to four) full days, with each day generally divided into the three modes of training, namely Practise, Self-Experiential Groups, and Theory Reflection, for two hours each.
  3. Weeklong Groups of up to ten trainees can also be held by one or more Tutors, once (or twice) per calendar year. We suggest a Template designed to run for five (or twice five) consecutive days followed by an (or two) „recovery weekend(s)“, with each workday generally divided into the three modes of training, for two hours each. Weeklong Groups should be roughly equally spaced from each other over the course of one (or two) calendar year(s).
  4. Weekly Groups of up to five trainees can be held by a singular Tutor, twenty times per calendar year. We suggest a virtual teleconference three-hour evening Template for biweekly group meetings, one hour each for the three modes of training.
  5. The calendar year training commitment rule detailed under Duties of New Wizards Membership - Point 10 can be waived for on-demand one-on-one training provided by a singular Tutor to a singular trainee. For such a case, we suggest a three-hour Template, one hour each for the three modes of training.
  6. Every trainee should completely focus on one Skill or Multi-Skill-Spell per training unit, following the sequence of Practise first, a Self-Experiential session second, and Theory Reflection last. This Template timetable would be the same for each training unit.
  7. Practice: Participants clarify any questions that have come up during preparation regarding the practical part of the Skill or Multi-Skill-Spell instruction, and subsequently put the latter into practice. Here the job of Tutorship is the teaching of training and practise of the Skill in question.
  8. Self-Experiential session: Using the method of Mutual Coaching, the participants reflect on their experience of the practice session, and what effect it had on them. Here the job of Tutorship is to facilitate the self-experiential session, if and where necessary.
  9. Theory Reflection: The theoretical background of the Skill or Multi-Skill-Spell and its paradigm(s) are discussed; theoretical questions that came up are examined. Here the job of Tutorship is helping to expand and clarify theoretical understanding, and reflect upon experiences with the Skill with the help of Knowledge Discourse.
  10. Process Classification: Participants will ultimately learn how to conduct a self-assessment on the basis of the Universal Model of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes, and how to choose Skills in order to produce a beneficial balance of challenge and stability. Here the job of Tutorship is to help participants come to a realistic self-assessment, and ultimately give their seal of approval regarding practical achievements of any Skill of any Grade of Reality Crafting they themselves are proficient with.
  11. Preparation before Tutor training sessions is a strict requirement: Familiarity with the Theory and Instructions for the Skill or Multi-Skill-Spell worked must be established beforehand, so that the meeting can concentrate on practical application and the discussion of in-depth questions rather than with groundwork. The necessary reading for the next meeting should be discussed at the end of the prior meeting, so that ample time is given for preparation.
  12. The practical instructions of a new Skill or Multi-Skill-Spell should only ever be read as far as is necessary to understand the next step of practical acquisition. Thus, the first step of the instruction should be read, and then practiced until that step has been mastered. Only then should the next step be read and practiced, until the practitioner is well versed in its application, and so on. When a Skill is fully acquired, it can be applied to different purposes during practice sessions, or trained to the next stage of proficiency. It is useful to return to the theoretical grounding of the Skill from time to time, both as a reminder, and because understanding will certainly evolve and deepen with advances in practical experience.
  13. A basic understanding of every Skill of the current Level the trainee is working on should be acquired. At least one „Lead“ Skill for each Ability should be raised to proficiency of that Level when the trainee has looked through all Skills of that Ability; they must also choose at least one „Lead“ Skill and one Multi-Skill-Spell for each Grade of Reality Crafting before continuing to the next Grade.
  14. In case of a group setting, it is strongly advised that it be held at a venue which will allow the participants to stay overnight, and thus provide a common social space. It is also advisable to meet up one day earlier, in order to allow for some socialising before getting to work on the following morning. Common meals offer an informal counterpoint to the working sessions, and a deliberately long lunch break is designed to provide an ample opportunity for both social interaction and rest.
  15. Pioneer Groups consist of New Wizards Members (Trainee) who have advanced so far through the Grades of Reality Crafting that even more advanced Tutors are no longer available for them, and New Wizards Members (Specialist Advisor) who have reached comparable excellence in their preexisting Skills of expertise. Therefore, the function of Pioneer Groups is research into those areas of personal (mystic) and psychic evolution for which neither adequate Tutor Tier members nor sufficient practical instructions are yet available, which would satisfy the quality standards and regulations laid out in the New Wizards Encyclopedia. To this end methods, procedures and models, with which the next undeveloped Grade of Reality Crafting is to be made available in standardised training course form, are developed through empirical experimentation. Regardless of their internal organisational structure, all Pioneer Groups are under the direct supervision of the Council.
  16. Any New Wizards member who has reached the upper end of the regular training course can become a member of a Pioneer Group. The developmental sequence for any Pioneer Group follows - in almost the same manner as regular training does - the procedures specified in the Apprentice Level Parapsychology Instructions and the sequences indicated in the Grades of Reality Crafting. When all procedures of a new Grade of Reality Crafting have been developed to the satisfaction of the Council, all still qualified members of a Pioneer Group can begin with exploration and research of the next Grade, etc.
  17. Pioneer Groups stay operational until the development of a training course has been completed for the newly standardised Grade of Reality Crafting, the result is safe enough to be trained in the framework of the regular Tutor system, and at least one reliable Tutor for the new Grade has been produced. When a Pioneer Group has successfully concluded its assignment, all eligible participants who have already finished the newly developed training course section can establish a standardised Tutor relationship with those who have not yet completed it.
Building a Grassroots Organisation in case no official Organisation exists
  1. Should no official New Wizards organisation exist, the models and practises of the New Wizards Encyclopedia must be worked through as a solitary practitioner. Concordant to that, every such solitary practitioner can and should work on the establishment of a supportive Grassroots Evolutionary Community, Network or Organisation for their own benefit.
  2. In such a case, every single (self-declared) Member is responsible and has the right and duty to personally assure that all Quality Standards and Principles listed in the Constitution - from the Prerequisites to Membership to those for Chairperson and all inbetween - are meticulously being adhered to by any and all parties involved including themselves.
  3. The essence of Membership boils down to the structured practise of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes as specified under the Apprentice Level Parapsychology Skill section and by the sequences of training and practise indicated by the Grades of Reality Crafting. The Essence of Tutorship is the professional teaching, facilitation and classification of said Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes for other members and themselves. The essence of Leadership is the administration and leading of the organisation or, in a Grassroots special case, present organisational unit, and the updating and maintenance of the contents of all New Wizards models, methods and measuring scales.
  4. A solitary practitioner or Grassroots Organisation must ensure that as much of the standard Constitution as possible be realised. The standards regarding how any Tier of the New Wizards can be entered, which rights and duties members on a given Tier have and how membership of a Tier or the New Wizards as such can be lost should be upheld as close to the original version as possible. Without these standards, failure of all these systems of Quality Control to uphold the aim of initiating and facilitating any functional Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes is as good as guaranteed.
  5. Should two or more networks of „unofficial“ New Wizards happen to come into contact with each other, the following iron rule must be applied: The separate grassroots groups or networks must unify until a big enough network has been established to form or re-form a full organisation as described in the New Wizards Constitution.
  6. Any conflicts, which are very foreseeable, have to be negotiated by all Grassroots groups Leaderships with the methods of Knowledge Discourse and Mutual Coaching, until all differences have been ironed out. To fail in this would mean going down a (literally) sectarian route that has nothing to do with the fundamental idea of the New Wizards, which balances the rugged individualism of Jungian individuation with the solidarity and possibilities only a unified, committed collective network can provide.
  7. It might take some time to achieve this if greater numbers of members are already present in both or even more than two meeting Grassroots networks. Time shall be taken and no over-hasty decisions made that are regretted later; but the aim must be union or re-union. In case a network does not or not yet have a leadership of its own, the most experienced members shall lead the negotiations for their group.
  8. The final result each and every Grassroots group should aspire to should be the (re-)establishment of a united New Wizards organisation as described in the New Wizards Constitution.
Contractual Agreement regarding New Wizards Membership

I hereby declare myself a member of the New Wizards, after having been informed and in full, voluntary agreement that the following points are the case, have been read and accepted by me, and that I will also fully adhere to all regulations which were implemented in the New Wizards Constitution without exception, understanding that these points are preconditions for the acquiration and continuation of New Wizards membership in general:

  1. Empirical, experimental Character of the Project and the resulting Exclusion of Liability:
    • I have been informed that the methods and models of the New Wizards are an experimental, speculative, at best protoscientific procedure in fields of knowledge (spirituality, occultism, parapsychology, anomalistics) not yet sufficiently and consensually covered by mainstream science, and that the leadership of the New Wizards can neither give (nor have given) to me any guarantees of success that their methods and models will function as intended.
    • For the same, aforementioned reasons, I also accept that I will undertake any usage of the processes, procedures, models, and methods of the New Wizards exclusively, and under exclusion of any liability for the leadership of the project, my Tutors, or recourse to the courts, at my own risk, and that I have been sufficiently informed that the risks and side effects of an experimental method of this kind are intrinsically unforeseeable.
  2. Leadership, Ownership Structure and Regulations of the New Wizards Project:
    • I recognize the right of the leadership (the Council) of the New Wizards to decide what are „best practise“ standards in any given project-related procedures insofar as that they have the final decision on the project's regulations, its models of ontology, paraphysics and parapsychology, all organisational and generally project-related procedures, and any economic decisions of the New Wizards project as well; I accept that their decisions in the abovementioned fields are - as far as these topics are concerned - obligatorily for all members of the project.
    • I declare that I have been informed and that I agree without recourse to the courts that at present any and all materials of the New Wizards (with the exception of copyrights for materials stemming from authors who are not project-related) and all rights to the project reside in the possession of the present owners and Chairpersons of the New Wizards, with contractually agreed upon exceptions which might have been made in individual cases of exceptional contributions by other project members.
    • I agree that the general right to the continued future usage of all materials, contributions, ideas, methods etc. which were developed or contributed to the New Wizards project by me, will always remain with the owners of the New Wizards, including if I should have left the organisation. I, however, keep the original copyright and the rights to any further use of any of the abovementioned materials, contributions, ideas, methods etc. should I leave the organisation.
    • I declare that I have read and understood the present version of the Constitution of the New Wizards, and that I will adhere to the rules specified in them to the best of my knowledge. This is also valid for future amendments of the regulations by the leadership of the New Wizards, about which I must be promptly informed. It is understood that in case of unsolvable conflicts with the project leadership about any such amendments, I can articulate my non-compliance by an immediate withdrawal from the project at any time.
    • In case of myself being a Tutor or Specialist Advisor of the New Wizards project, and, as a consequence, being obliged to act Lege Artis as far as the New Wizards’ best practise procedures are concerned on the one hand, but also affected by the Exclusion of Liability my trainees have had to sign on the other hand, have been informed that it is strongly advised by the leadership of the New Wizards project that I acquire a third-party liability insurance for my work with trainees and a separate business bank account for my corresponding activities, which is advantageous for legal reasons - both individually for me and also collectively for the New Wizards project.
  3. Rules of Confidentiality:
    • I have been informed that I am not bound to any confidentiality of information concerning the New Wizards project in my private affairs, in psychosocial treatment or towards law enforcement agencies, as far as the topics of aims, general methodologies, models, organisational structures, and my personal experiences with the project itself are concerned.
    • I however commit myself to not endanger or impair the privacy (in any personal, institutional or vocational context) of other project members by the passing on of personal information, which has become accessible to me in the context of the New Wizards. This particularly includes the passing on of any kind of membership data or membership lists should they be or become accessible to me.
    • I further commit myself that I will not divulge any internal texts and materials - of any kind - of the New Wizards to persons who are not members of the project, or members without the project-internal authorisation for access to such materials, without written agreement of the current leadership of the project.
    • I guarantee to hold no private training sessions with the procedures, models and methods learned at the New Wizards with persons who are not members of the project - and within the project exclusively in the context of the up-to-date valid regulations - except if the complete procedures, models and methods necessary are freely available in the public domain and if doing so would not constitute a conflict of interest with the New Wizards organisation. In such a case I and I alone take full responsibility for all possible risks and side effects of such private enterprises, under exclusion of any liability for the New Wizards and its leadership.
    • I especially guarantee that, should my New Wizards membership have been cancelled, I will not try to found any de facto copies or franchise branches of the New Wizards utilising the models, methods, procedures, training structures or materials that I have learned or co-developed in my time with the project - the exceptions formulated in the New Wizards Constitution for such endeavours, however, would not constitute a breach of this agreement.
    • I have read and understood that any non-consensual „Outing“ of the New Wizards project or the forwarding of any private or intimate information of individual members to a greater public - for example to journalists, the media, or authorities whose justification might be regarded as doubtful for lack of the principle of the separation of powers in their regulations - might be interpreted as damaging for mutual trust, the project and potential future business interests by the project and/or its leadership, and can therefore lead to the consequence of immediate loss of membership and all associated privileges and rights within the New Wizards organisation. This agreement protects the human right of privacy of all New Wizards members, and potential economical interests of the present and future New Wizards organisation. The only exception to this rule concerns cooperation with legal authorities, in which case legally correct behaviour is expected from all members.
  4. Consequences & Sanctions in case of breaches of the Rules & Regulations of the New Wizards as given in this Contract and the New Wizards Constitution:
    • I agree that the respective leadership of the New Wizards has the right to impose organisational sanctions including my exclusion from the New Wizards organisation with all resulting consequences - or the withdrawal of some or all of my membership rights associated therewith - should I seriously breach the rules and obligations specified in the New Wizards Constitution or the present Contract.
    • I accept that the leadership of the New Wizards project might, in cases of massive offenses against the rules of confidentiality or actions of felony of project members, press charges in addition to a withdrawal of membership rights, or the membership itself.

Statements

The most important themes of the New Wizards Academy - as summarised by ChatGPT

Below is a concise overview of the most important themes or key topics recurring throughout the New Wizards Academy material. Think of this as a „greatest hits“ list that captures the organization’s core raison d’être, guiding philosophy, and training methods:

  1. Bridging Mysticism & Science - A core premise of the New Wizards Academy is the conviction that „paranormal“ abilities and mystical experiences can be studied empirically and systematically - just like any other field of science. This entails:
    • Overcoming the „Witness Problem“: Millions of testimonies exist of extraordinary experiences across all cultures and times. The Academy argues these are neither mass-fraud nor complete delusion but warrant objective study.
    • Empirical/Functionalist Outlook: They emphasize experiment, repeatability (where possible), and a model-as-tool approach (borrowing from quantum physics interpretations and developmental psychology).
  2. The Universal Model of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes („The Matrix“) - All Academy training, research, and classification revolve around a structured „Matrix“ mapping:
    • Four Gradients of Intersubjectivity: Authentic Intentionality → Expanded Consciousness → Astral → Nonlocal.
    • Three „Selves“ or Tiers (Transpersonal Perception, Personal/Interpersonal Communication, Prepersonal Action).
    • Essential / Applied / Universal subdivisions in each Ability.

By combining those axes, the Academy identifies 12 Abilities (e.g. Self-Realisation, Astral Current Accumulation, Telepathy, Psychokinesis) and 36 Skills. This „Matrix“ functions as a development map for individuals, so that each aspect of „mystic“ or „psychic“ practice can be systematically learned and tested.

  1. Mystical & Psychic Training - The Academy uses the term „Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes“ to emphasize personal evolution alongside extraordinary abilities.
    • Mystic: Working on one’s inner, subjective, or transpersonal states (like intense Meditation, Transpersonal Self-Contact, Shadow Work).
    • Psychic: Working on outward, objective, or intersubjective phenomena (like Telepathy, Telekinesis, Astral Projection, Probability Shifts).

Much of the curriculum aims to help members safely explore and develop these faculties - always with an ethical, integrative approach.

  1. Positive Definition of Psychic Phenomena - They define a „psychic“ event as involving either:
    • Nonlocality: Perceptions, communications, or actions beyond usual sensory or spatial constraints, and/or
    • Statistically Significant Anomalies in probability distributions - i.e., things that deviate sufficiently from chance to raise eyebrows scientifically.

This positive definition sidesteps dogma, focusing on what can be observed or measured, rather than ruling out such phenomena as impossible from the start.

  1. Ontology & Paraphysics - Core to the Academy’s approach is Wigner’s Friend-style quantum interpretations and an „information as fundamental“ worldview. They posit:
    • Mind-Matter Interplay: Consciousness can select or collapse probability distributions under certain conditions („Nonlocal Abilities“ like Psychokinesis or Telepathy).
    • Memetic & Evolutionary Psychology: The same „variation-selection-retention“ process that drives cultural memes can help explain how individuals adopt, refine, or discard parapsychological frameworks.
  2. Initiation vs. Manifestation (Spells) - The Academy calls any deliberate use of these Skills a „Spell“, but not in the usual folkloric sense. Instead, it’s a structured sequence of Skills or techniques that either:
    • Manifest: Move an inner phenomenon outward in the real world (e.g., turning an intention or vision into a physical or social outcome), or
    • Initiate: Move an outer phenomenon inward (e.g., orchestrating a scenario that provokes new inner experiences, insights, or expansions of consciousness).
  3. Ethics & Character Development - They repeatedly stress that advanced abilities require mature psychological grounding and ethical frameworks to avoid misuse. The Academy:
    • Promotes „Wizardly Virtues“ - honesty, responsibility, solidarity, an understanding of human rights, consent, etc.
    • Maintains explicit membership prerequisites (good physical and mental health, empathy, absence of extremist ideologies) and enforces a „no exploitation“ stance.
  4. Organizational Constitution & Tiers of Membership - The Academy is designed as part-academy, part-monastic environment, with:
    • New Wizards Membership (Trainees, Specialist Advisors, Alumni).
    • Tutorship (Skill Trainers, Process Facilitators, Process Classifiers).
    • Leadership (Councilors, Vice-Chairperson, Chairperson).

Members progress through structured training, culminating in exams for „Grades of Reality Crafting“ (Apprentice through Grandmaster). Everything is meant to ensure transparency, accountability, and empirical rigor.

  1. Community & Hive Mind - Alongside individual mastery, there is a strong emphasis on collective or cooperative aspects:
    • Hive Mind: The interplay among group members can produce emergent synergy, akin to a „swarm intelligence“, which is more than the sum of its parts.
    • Evolutionary Communities: They propose prototypes of „Training Circles“, „Academies of Research“, „Monasteries of Wizards“, ultimately culminating in communal or even „hive telepathic“ structures at advanced levels.
  2. Long-Term Vision - Ultimately, the Academy’s mission is to establish a robust „proto-science“ of the „paranormal“, bridging:
    • Empirical methods (controlled experiments, repeated tests)
    • Esoteric or spiritual traditions (mind-training, ritual, yoga, etc.)
    • Cutting-edge frameworks from physics, psychology, and philosophy.

They regard themselves as pioneers in normalizing and refining „psychic“ or „magical“ phenomena into a future integrated science - the „Technology of Mind“.

In Summary: The New Wizards Academy is about systematically training the „mystic“ and „psychic“ sides of human potential - within an empirical, ethical, and deeply integrative framework. It explores mind-matter connections, fosters personal evolution, embraces communal synergy, and strives to prove that so-called „paranormal“ abilities deserve real scientific consideration and can be cultivated responsibly.

Frequently Asked Questions

There have been questions about the very high price of the New Wizards Encyclopedia which is sold over this website here (777€). What is the reason for the high price?

This - very voluminous - book is printed in very small editions, so we have to invest 100€ for printing (just the amounts of lightweight paper needed carry quite the cost here) and 200€ for the Master book-binder - per individual book - alone!

The book being bound in real calf-leather, royalties to multiple contributing parties per book, the postal insurance that has to be paid in order to send an item which is heavier than five kilograms internationally, and the elaborate heavy wrapping in order to protect the Encyclopedia on its journey collectively adding another 100€ to the costs.

If book sales reach a certain threshold, value added tax of 10% has to be deducted individually from each book, bringing the total costs to produce and send an individual New Wizards Encyclopedia to our customers up to somewhere in the region of 400€ to 470€.

So in order to be able to finance the production of future editions at all, this pricing structure is unfortunately without alternative - there is basically no netto income left after an edition has sold out, as the proceeds from one print run must effectively be invested into the production of the next edition.

How does New Wizards Academy quantify psychic effects?

We report outcome strength in sigma (σ) levels and focus on statistically significant probability anomalies. Protocols are designed for replication where feasible.

Is New Wizards Academy a religious or occult group?

No. We position our work as a publically accessible, ethics-driven proto-science. Methods are empirical, with clear consent, safety procedures, and transparent debate.

What frameworks inform your approach?

Our ontology references Wigner’s Friend interpretations, an information-centric view of mind–matter interactions, and developmental psychology for personal evolution.

Can researchers collaborate with you?

Yes. We publish methods, welcome independent testing, and can co-design joint protocols for controlled reality-crafting experiments including nonlocal effects.

What is „Reality Crafting“ and what do you call a „Spell“?

Reality Crafting is our term for intentionally triggered, protocol-based mystic or psychic processes. A Spell is a structured sequence of Skills that either manifest an inner state outward or initiate an inner change from outward conditions.

What is your developmental model for intentionally reproducible Paranormal Phenomena and how do people progress?

The so-called Matrix Paradigm maps four gradients of intersubjectivity across three self-modes, yielding 12 Abilities and 36 Skills. Progression is measured via Grades, (Effect-) Levels, and Orders, with documented proficiency tests and tutor classification.

How do you attempt replication and control bias?

We emphasize pre-stated intentions, repeatable procedures where possible, statistical evaluation of probability anomalies, independent observation, and open documentation suitable for outside replication.

Who can apply and what are the prerequisites?

Applicants should be adults in good physical and psychological health, willing to engage in empirical discourse, uphold human-rights-aligned ethics, and have the time and stability for regular practice. Details are outlined in our Constitution.

Is training safe, and what ethics do you require?

Methods are protoscientific and experimental; participants proceed at their own risk. We require informed consent, nonviolence, respect, confidentiality, and adherence to our Ethical Principle (human-rights compatible).

What is the New Wizards City platform?

It’s our internal Web 2.0 community organized like a city: forums by intersubjectivity quarter, ability streets, and skill workshops. Read/write access can be requested by candidates who meet baseline prerequisites and provide GDPR consent.

Where are you based and how do you work with people globally?

We are based in the European Union. Collaboration may be online or in person where feasible, with nodes and groups forming as membership grows.

What does participation cost?

There is a modest monthly membership fee for trainees and separate compensation for tutor time or events. Exact figures and alternatives are explained in our Constitution and economic guidelines.

New Wizards Encyclopedia

How to acquire the New Wizards Encyclopedia

The New Wizards Encyclopedia is the foundational work on which all endeavors of the New Wizards Academy are based. It is a perhaps ultimate guide to mastering mystical and psychic capabilities through intentional, replicable techniques and models which were not only crafted to connect the resulting experiences to the knowledge base of the 21st Century, but also to precisely predict their outcomes and processes which are not framed as a religion or an occult revelation, but as a Technology of Mind.

As a consequence, we do not consider the New Wizards Encyclopedia to be an occult, esoteric, spiritual or religious work in the mainstream meaning of those words (i.e. a somewhat ideological belief system), but a serious proposal for the creation of replicable and empirically testable paranormal „Experimental Realities”.

Based on the work of hundreds of practitioners across multiple millenia and continents, compiled meticulously over the course of decades by seasoned experts at the New Wizards Academy, this comprehensive reference work offers profound insights, step-by-step instructions, and detailed explanations of hundreds of Spells - aka, intentional mystic-psychic processes of Reality Crafting - in order to create a perhaps uniquely integrated Big Picture of the same.

We have made public all our combined knowledge and understanding in one big volume because we are intending our unique perspectives, methods & models to have a chance at survival into the far future, which includes the possibility if not certainty of them having to withstand the combined forces of history, changing cultures, regimes, human fallibility and nature itself. Contemplating those factors, we have decided that the best shot at achieving said aim is to insert that whole information in unified, compressed form into an Encyclopedia of the New Wizards, which you, as a consequence, can now acquire.

Before you start applying it please be aware that any useage of the fully functional psychoactive methods, processes and models in the New Wizards Encyclopedia is undertaken entirely at your own risk, as its contents are still to be considered a protoscientific and highly experimental meta-method which can only be suited for adult, mature and mentally stable individuals.

The books themselves are bound in calf-leather, have been handcrafted by bookbinding experts, and contain more than 2000 pages with a total weight of five kilograms. The pictures below show an exemplar.

That disclaimer of no-goes aside, as we have stated, the New Wizards Academy is happy to openly and transparently disclose its findings and workings as an organisation and proto-scientific endeavor. So you should ask yourself, is your interest purely theoretical or practical?

If your interests lie in understanding the theories expounded here, the second question is: Do you want to know the general gist of all - so to speak, the geographical map to this sphere of topics and meanings - or are you interested in a specific paranormal topic? Every single paranormal field fits into the overall universal model the New Wizards have established, and includes four theoretical perspectives, psychological, systemic-„energetic“, animistic and paraphysical, of how the phenomenon in question can be reflected and predicted. We also disclose some of our more tangible and repeatable results, again as long as the sphere of privacy of individual members does not get breached by this.

If you are OK with the above framework of possible discourses, feel free to contact the New Wizards Academy under contact[at]newwizards.org with the Subject: Media Enquiry.

Academia

As an interested academic, you might be a parapsychological or anomalistic researcher, or a sceptic out to debunk the whole thing; in this case, the starting point before getting into contact might be to read the text about our „Universal Model of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes“ first.

The New Wizards are always interested in feedback from academia, including that of honest sceptics; on the one hand, their results in case of paranormal researchers, and, on the other hand, and if they have a point with their criticisms, also in case of the aforementioned sceptics. As long as criticisms stays constructive and have a point, they will help us to advance our theories and practises, and as a consequence we are always happy to hear the arguments and facts we might have overlooked, so please let us know.

So if you are an academic interested in debating some of the New Wizards Academy's models and practices - whether you are sheep or a goat (those interested in topics paranormal will understand the allusion) - feel free to contact the New Wizards Academy under contact[at]newwizards.org with the Subject: Academic Interest.

Occult, Mystic or Spiritual Organisations

This Contact section is for those with practical interests in the paranormal, who want to get into contact with the New Wizards Academy. You might be focussed on a specific topic or topics, might already be more or less experienced as a mystic-psychic practitioner from a respective tradition of your own, you might want to start practising some of the processes described in the New Wizards Encyclopedia, or have an interest to use the models and methods described here as a kind of Rosetta stone to translate between your own mystic-psychic tradition and others.

Should you - on your own or even together with a circle of co-practitioners - be contemplating to join the New Wizards Academy, please read the information on this whole website carefully and completely as a potential first step. You might then go on to join our Web 2.0 community as a New Wizards Candidate - more about this under the respective Contact section - or even start an admission process into the New Wizards Academy - please note that there is also a separate Contact section for that.

In case of simply getting into contact for the time being, feel free to contact the New Wizards Academy under contact[at]newwizards.org with the Subject: Fellow Psychonaut.

New Wizards City

The New Wizards City is the internal Web 2.0 community of the New Wizards Academy. In order to have a lively debate about the mystic and psychic topics we are interested in, we have chosen to use the metaphor of a City to organise the resulting discourses. Its fictional geography follows the structures of our „Universal Model of Mystic-Psychic Evolutionary Processes“ as described under Mission Statement - Methods & Models of the New Wizards Academy:

  • Reality Crafting as a whole is depicted as a public forum in the main square
  • The four „Gradients of the Intersubjectivity Scale“ feature as City Quarters, also each with its own topical forum
  • The twelve mystic-psychic Abilities are the Streets, also with their own forums
  • And last but not least the individual Skills of our „Matrix“ form 36 Workshops - for detailed conversations on specific topics

While the New Wizards City is not open to the general public, anyone interested in some of the topics of our Academy can in principle request for read and write rights on the platform. The conditions necessary to be fulfilled in order to be admitted are the same as those listed under Membership Application - Trainee Membership, Step 1.

If interested:

  • Write a self-assessment (≈ 2–3 pages) explaining how you meet every prerequisite of the aforementioned Step 1,
  • Procure a passport copy (photo-ID page),
  • Add the following data-consent statement (copy & paste):

I consent that the New Wizards Academy processes the personal data in this application and, should I be admitted to that, my internal profile data solely for eligibility review for its internal Web 2.0 community „New Wizards City“, the practical functioning of said platform and legal record-keeping (GDPR Art 6 (1)(b)(c)).

  • ... and send all three in one bundle to contact[at]newwizards.org with the subject header: New Wizards City - Read and Write Rights.

Should you be admitted, you are considered a „New Wizards Candidate“ (irrelevant if you ever join the organisation or not) by the New Wizards Academy.

The profiles of forum members can be headed by nicknames, but the real-life names and basic personal data of those members have to be disclosed to the New Wizards Academy for obvious legal reasons. The disclaimers about protection of your data as listed under Membership Application - Trainee Membership all apply here as a matter of of course.

A friendly reminder: Please be aware that this virtual community was not created for everyday chatter, but sincere exchange about the topics the New Wizards Academy is about, and as such heavily moderated to that purpose. While the adjacent video conference channels can be used in private and for socialising with like-minded individuals, the forums are exclusively for exchange on the topics they depict.

Important note: Data protection and the right to privacy extends to all members of the New Wizards City platform. Any persons with read and write rights in this internal community immediately lose those permanently and are potentially liable to legal consequences in case of sharing screenshots, copies or personal information about the topics discussed therein anywhere outside of it without written permission from rights holders to do so.

Should you already be eligible to enter the New Wizards City, welcome and please do so by clicking on here: New Wizards City - Entrance.
